Summary:

Work as a senior member of a Scrum team to execute the overall quality plan for one of Charles River's products. Provide support and assistance to customers and other teams within Charles River.

The candidate should be a sharp automation engineer with strong problem-solving skills and a solid software testing foundation. This role requires a talented, detail oriented, enthusiastic individual who is passionate about quality with the ability to grasp tough issues quickly and deliver well engineered, high-quality solutions.

We are looking for a strong software engineer to build out the next generation of our software test automation infrastructure as part of our Quality Assurance Infrastructure team. The candidate will be responsible for developing, delivering, and supporting the software infrastructure that enables automated product validation. This position provides services for planning, and the execution of central automated regression runs for all product departments. In addition, this candidate is responsible for maintaining and expanding the labs which host both automated and manual testing as well as conducting staging and certification of the product media during the ship-stage of a release.

Financial services industry experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the scrum master, product owner, architect, business analysts, product specialists, developers and other project team members to assist in carrying out the software quality responsibilities of the Scrum team
  • Create comprehensive test automation scripts from business requirements and functional specifications documents for product features of moderate complexity
  • Execute manual and automated functional, integration, regression, and performance tests
  • Maintain automated and manual test script libraries for functional, integration, regression, and performance testing
  • Log, track and triage defects with well-documented, reproducible steps
  • Proactively identify gaps, edge cases and potential risks early in the development life cycle
  • Align with the Software Development Life Cycle practices, comply with Information Security and Data Governance practices
  • Interpret results of automation tests and document software defects in issue tracking system; proactively communicate issues with developers and other project team members
  • Provide testing leadership by identifying opportunities for improvement in the Scrum team's QA methodology, innovate by researching and recommending new approaches to automation of testing, including use of Artificial Intelligence
  • Adhere to a testing schedule to ensure efficient and effective product delivery
  • Actively participate in the agile software development process by adhering to the CRD Scrum methodology including attending all daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives
  • Guide and mentor junior staff in the proper creation of automated test scripts.

Qualifications:

Education:

B.S. degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics or other technical course of study or Business with an MIS background. MS degree is strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in software testing within a process-driven technology environment.
  • Strong programming and scripting skills using Java, typescript, SQL, PowerShell, and Bash.
  • Must have hands-on experience designing, implementing, and executing automated tests, with Playwright strongly preferred, across: Web applications, Desktop/native applications, APIs and Batch processing applications
  • Proven experience using test cases, test scripts, and automation frameworks to validate requirements for complex multi-tier applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SaaS-based applications and cloud technologies, with the ability to effectively leverage AI-powered tools such as GitHub Copilot and other AI-assisted testing solutions to improve test design, automation development, debugging, productivity, and overall quality assurance processes.
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, including functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into comprehensive functional and technical test plans.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, with a minimum of 3 years of Agile development experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data validation, troubleshooting, and analysis.
  • Knowledge of one or more Charles River Development (CRD) functional areas is highly desirable.
  • Exposure financial services and/or investment management domains.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with version control systems, including Git.
  • Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate findings and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong ownership mindset, capable of working independently while maintaining a positive, collaborative team attitude.
  • Self-starter with the ability to quickly learn new systems, understand end-user workflows, and mentor or educate team members when needed.
  • Ability to work in accordance with country-specific company office attendance guidelines.

Salary Range:

$65,000 - $113,750 Annual
