Hyperlocal multimedia publisher, The Harlem Bee brings you a round-the-clock selection of the most compelling news, buzz, events and original photos and videos capturing the sights and sounds of Harlem, NY.

Job Description

The Harlem Bee seeks a part-time or full-time intern to assist with news reporting, research and administrative support for our editorial department. The intern will have the opportunity to gain experience in local news reporting, editorial program administration, background research and writing about Harlem. This position reports to the Managing Editor and will be based in New York City. The position comes with a small stipend over 6 months.

Qualifications

Degree in creative writing, journalism, or African American studies. Current college or graduate students are also eligible.
Experience reporting and writing local news.
Fluency in English, both verbal and written, is required.
Proficiency with word processing software, including Word for Windows, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the Harlem Bee team.
Must reside in New York City, preferably in Harlem, Inwood or Washington Heights
Basic research and management skills
