Job Summary:

The Utility Construction Management Associate 2 ensures that third-party projects on, under, or above our clients’ properties adhere to approved plans and agreements. This role involves identifying and escalating potential non-compliance issues and building relationships with field personnel to maintain compliance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Observe utility installations across railroad property.
  • Perform on-site observations of trenchless construction within railroad right-of-way, supporting third-party work around live railroad tracks.
  • Document pre- and post-construction site conditions, verify materials and layouts, and maintain an active dialogue with on- and off-site personnel.
  • Ensure documentation is in accordance with approved plans.
  • Attend daily job briefings with railroad (flagger) and contractor teams to discuss project requirements.
  • Participate in monthly training calls.
  • Submit time and expenses accurately.
  • Provide daily inspection reports using a tablet, detailing work progress and adherence to the railroad utility agreement.
  • Escalate non-compliance issues to management/engineers for review.
  • Travel 100% of the time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required to meet business needs.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of AREMA standards.
  • Understanding of general construction practices.
  • Proficiency in electronic communications, including e-mail and text.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 5-7 years of railroad or utility experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience with high-risk jobs (e.g., large diameter installations, shoring near track, non-traditional projects).
  • Basic understanding of tablet operations.

Additional Qualifications, Certifications, etc.:

  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to rent and operate rental cars through RailPros-approved vendors.
