Woodhouse Day Spa: Massage Therapist

Compensation

The expected pay for this role varies from $60-$175 per service, comprised of $35-$115 of base pay per service + an additional $25-$60+ of expected gratuity. 

Service-based compensation rates vary by treatment performed.  Additional compensation opportunities are available through retail sales and in spa promotions.

Purpose

Massage Therapists play a crucial role in enhancing the overall spa experience by providing exceptional massage and body treatments by using an assortment of therapeutic approaches. Massage Therapists must be personable with nurturing qualities, attentive to the guests' needs, and have a passion for wellness in a luxury spa setting. 

Responsibilities

Massage Therapists are responsible for obtaining the education and licensure required to perform bodywork services within the state they are working. They are expected to perform massage therapy and body treatments according to the treatment protocols provided. In addition to possessing knowledge and expertise in massage and body treatments, they should also be comfortable recommending enhancements and products. Woodhouse Spa Massage Therapists work closely with other team members to ensure that each guest's experience exceeds Woodhouse Spa standards. 

Role Specifications

  • Welcome each guest and properly introduces themself.
  • Prepares the guest for services according to the treatment protocols.
  • Reviews the guest’s intake form for any valuable information.
  • Performs up to a combination of 7-8 different massages/body treatments per day.
  • Educates the guest about the benefits of the service(s) performed.
  • Offers enhancements that pair with the guest’s chosen massage / body treatment and educates them on the benefits of the enhancer(s).
  • Educates the guest on the products used during the service.
  • Recommends retail home care products and explains how to use them properly.
  • Communicates current spa promotions to guests. 
  • Allows the guest to relax by only speaking when spoken to.
  • Documents pertinent guest information in their records.
  • Maintains organization of the treatment rooms and preparation areas.
  • Follows all Woodhouse Spa policies. 
  • Willing and able to perform all Woodhouse service offerings and Signature protocols. 
  • Ensures proper lighting, music, cleanliness, and aromatherapy are present.
  • Supports the needs of the team and the location.
  • Maintains the proper care of the spa tools and equipment.
  • Ensures safety, sterilization, and sanitation procedures are followed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Communicates with staff and management to ensure the location runs smoothly and according to the schedule.
  • Always maintains professionalism and discretion.
  • Renews licensure as required by the state, prior to the license expiration date.
  • Obtains continuous education per state licensing requirements and/or Woodhouse Spa requirements.
  • Protects the Woodhouse Spa brand.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Maintains a current Massage license in the state they are practicing in.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to assess the needs and wants of their guests.
  • Has exceptional time management skills.
  • Works efficiently to solve problems in the moment. 
  • Available to work weekend, evening, and holiday hours.
  • Neat and professional appearance follows Woodhouse Spa dress code. 

Organizational Relationships

This position reports directly to the Spa Director.

Work Schedule

This role requires availability to work a schedule that accommodates the needs of the business that could consist of days, evenings, and/or weekends.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role requires physical strength to stand on feet for long hours at a time and the ability to lift up to 50lbs.
