Provide specialized construction legal support and counsel to MasTec, Inc. (a $17B Fortune 500 infrastructure construction company) and its subsidiaries within MasTec’s Communications segment. 


Responsibilities
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to a State Bar.
  • 5 to 10+ years of experience advising clients regarding complex construction law matters.
  • Ability to be the primary point of contact for clients on transactional and litigation matters.
  • Experience with EPC, designer/engineering contracts, and joint venture agreements is preferred.
  • Ability to draft and negotiate construction contracts without supervision.
  • Team player with a positive attitude who enjoys collaborating and treats people well.
  • Self-motivated, innovative, and displays intellectual curiosity.
  • Very detail oriented and analytical.
  • Ability to manage a large, fast-paced, and dynamic workload with little to no supervision.
  • Strong client-service mentality and excellent work ethic.
  • Capable of acting as a solutions-oriented business partner, assisting the business in achieving its goals and objectives, and advising the business teams on options for mitigating risk.
  • Advanced decision making, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Review and negotiate procurement and subcontractor agreements.
  • Advise executives and operations teams on risk evaluation and mitigation with regards to contracts.
  • Change order/claims preparation, supervision, and/or management as needed.
  • Resolve day-to-day disputes on projects and manage litigation/arbitration matters as needed.
  • Conduct training for business and legal teams on construction law matters.
  • Develop and/or modify contract templates, training materials, and contract negotiation resources for use by business and legal teams.
  • Manage outside counsel on transactional and litigation matters.
  • Additional tasks as assigned.
  • Prefer candidates located in Miami-Dade/Broward.
