Job description

Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Intellectual Disabilities

Location: Weber County

About the Role

We are seeking compassionate and experienced Direct Support Professionals to support individuals experiencing intellectual disabilities. This role provides a meaningful opportunity to make a positive impact while fostering independence and life skills in the people we serve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including grooming, cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene.
  • Support participation in community activities and recreation.
  • Accompany individuals to appointments, shopping, and social outings as needed.
  • Encourage skill-building for community engagement, such as money management, transportation use, and social interaction.
  • Implement and document individualized support plans (ISP outcomes).
  • Teach and reinforce skills that promote independence, including cooking, budgeting, and personal safety.
  • Support communication and self-advocacy efforts.
  • Promptly report any incidents, changes in condition, or concerns to supervisors.

Requirements

  • Current CPR/First Aid certification
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Clear background check
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of healthcare experience

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support individuals with intellectual disabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends
