EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

Purpose:
The Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting, loading, and unloading materials and products within the warehouse using powered industrial equipment. This role ensures accuracy, quality, and compliance with safety protocols while supporting overall warehouse operations. The position contributes to maintaining an organized workflow by performing material handling tasks and assisting with additional duties as needed.
General Description of duties:
This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
  • Reads work orders, shipping orders, or follows verbal/written instructions from lead, supervisor, or manager
  • Transports, loads, and unloads materials and products to designated areas using powered industrial equipment, including powered lift trucks, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, and other specialized machinery/tools, including the utilization of pallets, hand trucks, carts, dollies, shelving, and other devices
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers
  • Provides Customer Service to customers picking-up and/or returning their products and ensures safety, quality, and accuracy in all customer interactions
  • If needed, provide assistance with warehouse associate job functions as instructed by leadership
  • Identifies safety issues and is aware of and responsible for following all safety processes, including safe machine operation, safety harness requirements, and other PPE requirements

Qualifications:
  • Safety conscious approach to all activities
  • Ability to safely lift 50 pounds while loading/unloading furniture and operating powered equipment, hand trucks, and carts
  • Work as a part of a cooperative team where the members may change frequently
  • Ability to assemble all Morris Home Furnishings products
  • Ability to quickly move your hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects when handling, installing, positioning, or moving furniture
  • Experience working with/around powered equipment, warehouse machinery, and hand/power tool preferred

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years experience in a warehouse or distribution environment
  • Successful completion of required safety and machine operation training
