Wardrobe Technician - Blue Man Group Orlando

On-Call Position
Blue Man Group Orlando is looking for on-call Wardrobe Technicians.
The Wardrobe Technician is responsible for a variety of duties within the Wardrobe & Makeup Department. Wardrobe team members provide as needed show and rehearsal coverage, and may also be scheduled for work calls. Team members demonstrate strong theatrical wardrobe skills, effective oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills. The ability to work effectively in a team environment, with diverse work populations, and established deadlines is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
• Responsible for executing show cues;
• Performing preset duties as well as turnover and post-show duties, including laundry, cleaning, and maintaining dressing rooms and wardrobe areas;
• Maintenance of equipment, costumes, and work calls as needed;
• Comfortable working in an intimate dressing room setting while maintaining a strict atmosphere of professionalism and safety;
• Assisting performers with makeup application and costume pieces;
• Research and develop on an as needs basis;
• Administrative organization on an as needs basis;
• Clear communication of show notes amongst the HOD Wardrobe, Stage Manager on duty, and Production Manager;
• Assist in maintaininginventory;
• Attend meetings as required by management;
• Support supplemental Wardrobe needs for rehearsals, appearances, and gigs;
• Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise;
• Support systems for the maintenance, cleaning, and organization of workspaces;
• Adhere to safety rules and regulations for locality and department;
• Support gigs, trainings, rehearsals, and marketing events;
• Participate in load-in and load-out and lend assistance toother departments as needed;
• All other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• The ability to work effectively in a team environment is required;
• Prior wardrobe experience with a live theatrical production;
• Working knowledge of makeup and makeup application;
• Strong communication and time management skills;
• A flexible schedule;
• Ability to read patterns and follow assembly instructions are a plus;
• Knowledge of fabric, fabric care, laundry, and skin care are a plus;
• Experience hand sewing, using industrial and home sewing machines is a plus;
• Organizational skills a must;
• Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to handle technical issues swiftly during a live show;
• Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the show; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;
• Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to and following all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods;
• Assist other departments when necessary for cross-departmental support;
• At least 2 years of previous experience, or in a similar environment;
• Working knowledge of Microsoft applications;
• Bachelor's degree in Costume & Fashion Design or a similar field; or equivalent relevant work experience;
• Ability to obtain OSHA 10 course completion card;
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken; Ability to clearly and effectively communicate viaheadset;
• Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays;
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: climbing, crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs, working with limited to no visibility; Full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer. This is an on-call hourly position, eligible for overtime and 401K. This compensation is location-specific and compensation in other geographies may vary. Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided upon elements related, but not limited to: skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.
