Company Overview
Phoenix Fabricators and Erectors, LLC, based in Avon, Indiana, is a recognized industry leader in steel water storage tank construction. We specialize in designing, fabricating, and field-erecting water storage tanks across the country. Our team is committed to safety, quality craftsmanship, and delivering projects that meet the highest industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, including attending daily safety meetings and conducting site-specific risk assessments.
  • Operate cranes (rough-terrain and crawler hydraulic) in a safe and efficient manner, maintaining current NCCCO certification for fixed cab (TSS) and swing cab (TLL) cranes.
  • Erect elevated water storage tanks using advanced construction methods under the supervision of the Assigned Foreman.
  • Set up and operate erection derricks, three-drum hoists, hydraulic pumps, and cable-strand tank jacking systems.
  • Apply proper rigging and signaling techniques in accordance with Corporate HSE standards.
  • Use rigging tools and fit steel components such as key plates, bull pins, keys, shims, and lifting lugs.
  • Perform welding using SMAW (6010 and 7018) and FCAW processes to meet x-ray quality standards.
  • Adjust welding machines and conduct minor maintenance as required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and perform field calculations to ensure accurate fit-up.
  • Maintain tools, inspect materials before use, and perform general housekeeping to ensure a clean, hazard-free work area.
  • Assist with task planning, on-the-job training, and coordinating workflow as directed by supervision.
  • Perform grinding, gouging, and general finishing on metal components.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues under pressure and support team productivity.
  • Lay out and prepare tools for the construction of scaffolding.

Work Environment

  • Must consistently follow safety procedures, including the proper use of fall protection and PPE
  • Frequent work at heights and in challenging outdoor environments including heat, noise, dust, and fumes
  • Extensive travel required; must be available to work both traditional and non-traditional hours
  • Regular physical demands including lifting up to 50 lbs independently (and up to 100 lbs with assistance), climbing, kneeling, and working in confined or awkward positions
  • Must safely climb on/off trucks and trailers to load/unload equipment
  • Will be exposed to varying weather conditions throughout the year

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, with current or obtainable OSHA 30 certification within 30 days of hire
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3–5 years of experience in welding and field leadership roles
  • Hands-on experience with erection derricks, three-drum hoists, and hydraulic jacking systems
  • Valid NCCCO certification (TSS and TLL)
  • Proficiency in SMAW (6010, 7018) and FCAW welding methods
  • Ability to pass weld tests in horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions (ASME Section IX)
  • Experience inspecting welds and identifying common weld defects
  • Skilled in use of cutting torches, gouge rods, grinders, wire brushes, and related tools
  • Ability to read blueprints and weld symbols with accuracy
  • Familiarity with construction management tools such as FieldWire and SiteDocs
  • Strong communication and mathematical skills
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel extensively
  • Welding certification in stainless steel preferred (or willingness to obtain)
