Under general direction, lead and support the ITS performing skilled work in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of traffic signals and other Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices.


DUTIES

  • Installation, maintenance, replacement, programming, repair and troubleshooting of ITS equipment, including CCTV cameras, video detection, radar detection, loop detectors, dynamic message signs, connected vehicle RSU’s, poles, etc. and associated cabinets, cabling, etc.  Also to include communications equipment such as managed field ethernet switches, fiber, copper, etc.
  • Installation, maintenance, replacement, programming, repair and troubleshooting of street lighting and traffic signals, including traffic signal controllers, cabinets, detection, wiring, signal heads, poles, etc., as well as communications equipment. 
  • Field implementation of traffic control devices as needed (signs, cones, etc.)
  • Includes driving / operation of a bucket truck for traffic signal and ITS maintenance duties
  • Assist in the training of new technicians; perform all job functions of Maintenance Technician 
  • Perform all job functions of ITS Technician and any other assignments as requested
  • May require on-call on-site response for customer call outs, including nights and weekends
  • May include travel within Florida and / or within the US
  • Serves as a proactive customer service & quality ambassador of Econolite by representing the organization in a positive, professional manner to support The Brand Promise
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five (5) years of related experience
  • IMSA Level II or IMSA Level III certification preferred
  • FDOT Temporary Traffic Control Certification preferred
  • Electrician License preferred
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, practices, and methods used in installing, maintaining, and repairing traffic signals, ITS devices and associated equipment
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of traffic control guidelines, both state and local
  • Video Detection configuration, troubleshooting and repair experience
  • Knowledge of fiber optic cable & networking equipment, Fiber training preferred
  • Knowledge of pre-emption system installation, maintenance and testing.
  • Ability to interpret design schematics, site plans, maps, and engineering drawings
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair data communication equipment and cable
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair problems inherent to traffic signals and other ITS equipment
  • Ability to wire and connect cables necessary for operation of signalized intersections
  • Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations regarding electronics
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Pass all necessary background/pre-employment checks
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable DMV record; commercial driver’s license preferred
  • Ability to exert moderate physical effort, typically involving, some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 50 pounds.) 
  • Computer software skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications such as MS Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.


BUSINESS TRAVEL & HOURS

  • 100% travel to project locations and company facilities across the various counties within the Orlanda, FL area.
  • Some or all hours may be during 3rd shift

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
