Job description

The Manager, Total Rewards will provide thought leadership on and is responsible for the assessment, design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation, benefits, incentives and wellness programs and strategies (global offices, DC and fleet).  Works with senior management to ensure that compensation and benefits programs support the organization's business objectives and meet all requirements. Analyzes appropriate data and develops compensation wage bands for functional areas and supports evolution in wages as markets require. Manages an HR departmental sub-function and plays a critical cross-functional role between HR and Finance. Lead role in HR for HRIS systems, process improvement and department budget management.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Rewards & Recognition:

  • Provide direction to the Total Rewards function to effectively evaluate, design, propose, implement, and communicate compensation and benefits strategy, programs, policies, and initiatives that competitively position Starboard/Onboard to attract, retain and motivate talent
  • Work collaboratively with HR leadership, the CEO, senior leadership, finance, and legal to maintain appropriate total rewards programs globally per the needs of various markets.
  • Leads the development of salary structure and administrative guidelines in accordance with compensation policy. Manages salary survey participation and the annual compensation planning process, including market pricing activities and benchmarking activities. Oversees job analysis process to determine appropriate pay structures and grading according to compensation guidelines and market analysis
  • Recommends alternative compensation and benefit programs by studying employer and employee requirements/trends and developments offered within industry/geographic area
  • Perform ad-hoc analyses and manage special projects as needed (e.g., offers, leveling, organizational planning, comp strategy, retention, etc.)
  • Develop, implement and oversee the overall benefit strategy and programs in order to cultivate an environment of well-being and shared fiscal responsibility
  • Research, evaluate and recommend changes to existing benefits programs or the implementation of new benefits programs
  • Works on committee assigned to govern shipboard compensation programming, acting as lead for annual salary reviews for teams at sea

Operational Excellence:

  • Ensure compensation and benefits plans as well as all HR and payroll systems and processes globally comply with legal and other regulations and manage processes and controls to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and internal controls
  • Oversee HRIS Analyst with a focus on continuous process and systems improvement
  • Proactively manage relevant vendors, auditors, and consultants and negotiate contracts for compensation and benefits products and services
  • Oversee ongoing analysis and evaluation of services, coverage, and options available through insurance and investment companies to ensure programs best meet the needs of the organization
  • Develop and use HR metrics and data as a baseline for storytelling to enhance the HR offering, give insight into business status and progress to date
  • Partners with the Finance Department to oversee and manage the Department budget

Talent Management:

  • Lead the Total Rewards team by creating performance objectives and providing regular ongoing feedback and guidance

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or any other related field and/or 8 years equivalent work experience
  • Experience designing and managing salary structures, short-term and long-term incentive programs, competitive market analysis, forecasting trends, costs and modeling outcomes. Experience managing large scale budgets in a project of substantial value within a business setting

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required for Success:

  • Strong total rewards consultation and partnership skills; ability to build solid relationships. Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with compensation compliance rules globally
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to gain, understand and apply information and data as it relates to HRIS systems
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment
  • Collaborative team player and ability to work effectively in a global team environment
  • Ability to work independently; be a self-starter
  • Self-motivator who maintains confidentiality and professionalism

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Spanish highly preferred
  • Cruise industry compensation experience preferred

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Office days are Monday through Friday with Wednesdays as optional remote days. On occasion there could be adjustments based on the needs of the business.
