Manager Technology Operations Jobs in Geneva, IL

Article Student Living is seeking a senior technology leader to oversee day-to-day technology operations, optimize and mature the current environment, and drive execution across corporate IT, property technology, enterprise systems, and data platforms.
This role will focus on operational excellence, cost efficiency, and delivery, while partnering closely with senior leadership to align technology initiatives with business priorities and a broader enterprise technology model.
Travel: up to 10% of the time.
Location: Chicago, IL (in-office Monday - Thursday)
Pay range: 225-250k base, 20% bonus and LTIP eligible.
Technology Operations
o Lead day-to-day IT operations across corporate systems, infrastructure, service desk, and property technology environments
o Ensure reliability, performance, and responsiveness of all core technology services
o Conduct an initial assessment of the current technology environment, including systems, vendor landscape, cost structure, and key risks, and develop a prioritized stabilization and optimization plan
o Establish and enforce SLAs and operational KPIs across internal teams and vendors
o Drive resolution of critical incidents and ensure disciplined problem management practices
Execution & Delivery Leadership
o Translate business priorities into executable technology initiatives with clear timelines and outcomes
o Partner with business leaders to identify, prioritize, and execute AI-driven use cases across functions, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and measurable outcomes
o Oversee delivery of ongoing projects, ensuring alignment to scope, budget, and expected value
o Partner with business leaders to align priorities and support execution of initiatives
o Build execution discipline across the organization with a focus on accountability and results.
Cost Optimization & Vendor Management
o Conduct a comprehensive review of current technology spend, vendor landscape, and contracts
o Evaluate opportunities to leverage external partners for property-level technology deployments (e.g., network infrastructure, security systems, IoT), ensuring appropriate oversight, cost efficiency, and alignment with business needs
o Identify and execute opportunities for cost reduction, consolidation, and efficiency gains
o Rationalize overlapping tools, platforms, and services
o Hold vendors accountable to performance, service levels, and cost commitments
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
o Partner with enterprise security leadership to ensure alignment with cybersecurity standards and practices
o Oversee implementation of security controls across corporate and property environments
o Ensure adherence to established policies, risk frameworks, and compliance requirements
o Support incident response and remediation activities as required
Enterprise Systems & Integrations
o Oversee the stability and performance of core systems (e.g., Yardi, CRM, finance, HR platforms)
o Ensure effective integration and data flow across systems
o Partner with data and analytics teams to improve data quality, accessibility, and reporting capabilities
o Support the evolution of reporting and insights to enable better business decision-making
Team Leadership & Development
o Lead and develop a lean, high-performing technology team focused on delivery and service excellence
o Foster strong collaboration, communication, and alignment across business functions to ensure successful delivery of technology initiatives
o Clarify roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations across the team
o Strengthen execution capacity by balancing internal capabilities and external partners
Alignment with Enterprise Technology Model
o Partner with enterprise technology leadership to align local operations with established standards, tools, and governance practices
o Ensure technology decisions and implementations are consistent with broader enterprise architecture and security requirements
o Support the evolution toward a more integrated and scalable technology operating model over time
Experience & Profile
o 10+ years of progressive technology leadership experience
o Strong track record in IT operations, delivery, and execution
o Familiarity with enterprise systems and platforms common in real estate or asset management environments (e.g., Yardi, Entrata, Microsoft ecosystem, cloud-based collaboration and data
platforms)
o Experience optimizing technology cost structures and managing vendor ecosystems
o Practical experience in enterprise systems, infrastructure, and service delivery
o Ability to operate in evolving environments and bring structure to ambiguity
o Strong communicator with the ability to align business and technology stakeholders
