About the Role
Shive-Hattery is seeking an IT Operations Manager to lead enterprise-wide technology operations across our ~700-person, multi-discipline architecture and engineering firm. This role oversees Corporate IT functions including the Infrastructure, Cloud, and Service Desk and is accountable for ensuring our technology environment is reliable, secure, and aligned to support a professional services organization.
This role also plays a key part in ensuring IT operates consistently and effectively across a growing, multi-office organization. You will help strengthen how IT operates by improving clarity in processes, ownership, and service delivery across teams and offices. Reporting to the CIO, this role helps position IT as a trusted partner and enabler to the business, supporting teams across the firm in using technology to design what matters to make our world a better place.
What You'll Do
You'll own the performance and structure of IT operations while helping improve how work flows through the IT organization. This includes leading teams, strengthening service delivery, and establishing clarity in how responsibilities and decisions are handled across IT and the business.
More specifically, you will:
  • Lead and develop teams across the Infrastructure, Cloud, and Service Desk functions, driving accountability, performance, and continuous improvement in service delivery
  • Clarify ownership boundaries, handoffs, and escalation paths across IT teams and business stakeholders
  • Establish and enforce policies for IT security, compliance, and system performance
  • Work closely with technology leadership and CIO on strategic technology initiatives and operational priorities
  • Align technology capabilities with business needs, serving as a dependable partner to teams across the firm
  • Manage lifecycle planning, vendor relationships, and long-term sustainability of IT systems and budgets
  • Lead key initiatives including cloud migration of legacy systems, implementation of modern secure access capabilities such as ZTNA and SSE, and development of the firm's Azure environment as a foundational platform
  • Lead technology integration efforts for firm growth initiatives, including onboarding new offices and aligning acquired teams to firm standards
  • Introduce improvements in a thoughtful and sustainable way, balancing consistency with the strengths of the existing team

Requirements
What We're Looking For
Proven experience managing IT operations in a multi-site or distributed environment
  • Strong background in service delivery, infrastructure, and cloud platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to bring clarity and structure to environments with evolving processes or ownership models
  • Experience building and developing technical teams while driving accountability and performance
  • Experience improving team execution and delivering complex initiatives in environments focused on steady-state operations
  • Ability to translate business needs into practical, scalable IT solutions
  • Experience managing budgets and vendor relationships
  • Familiarity with IT governance, cybersecurity frameworks, and compliance programs such as CMMC, with the ability to support and operationalize compliance efforts
  • Familiarity with developer tooling and deployment pipelines, and curiosity about how AI capabilities are enabled at the infrastructure level
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to make decisions and drive alignment across teams
  • Strong judgment and ability to navigate ambiguity while driving progress and alignment

**Experience in architecture, engineering, or professional services is a plus, but not required**
