Job description

The Fleet Strategy & Operations Manager is responsible for developing and executing the organization's fleet strategy while driving operational, financial, and service performance across a fleet of approximately 1,000 vehicles. This role serves as the primary business partner between fleet operations and company leadership, leveraging analytics, financial analysis, technology, and process improvement initiatives to optimize fleet utilization, reduce costs, improve operational effectiveness, and support long-term business objectives.

What You Will Be Doing:
Fleet Strategy & Optimization
  • Develop and continuously improve fleet strategy and vehicle lifecycle management practices.
  • Partner with business leaders to align fleet resources with operational requirements.
  • Create long-term replacement and capital planning strategies.

Fleet Analytics & Performance Management
  • Develop and maintain KPIs and executive dashboards.
  • Analyze utilization, maintenance costs, downtime, fuel performance, safety trends, and total cost of ownership.
  • Present data-driven recommendations to leadership.

Financial Analysis & Business Planning
  • Develop ROI, NPV, payback, and cost-benefit analyses for fleet initiatives.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and repair recommendations using sound financial analysis.

Technology & Data Management
  • Own and improve fleet databases, reporting structures, and data quality.
  • Clean up and optimize fleet data for efficient querying and reporting.
  • Lead reporting and analytics initiatives.
Strategic Projects
  • Lead the implementation of fleet management systems, telematics, dashcams, and other fleet technologies.
  • Develop business cases and manage project execution.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with fleet vendors, service providers, and manufacturer representatives to support service quality, cost control, and operational responsiveness.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, business analytics, operations management, fleet management, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, dashboard development, and data analysis.
  • Strong SQL skills with the ability to query, validate, and transform large operational datasets.
  • Experience developing reports and dashboards in Power BI.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude, or similar platforms to improve analysis, reporting, and productivity.
  • Experience creating KPIs, scorecards, and executive reporting.
  • Strong project management and business case development capabilities.
  • Fleet or transportation industry experience preferred but not required.
