Job description

The Procurement Manager is responsible for the strategic and proactive management of inventory, supplier relationships, and procurement processes. This role works closely with the Purchasing Agent, who manages day-to-day transactional activities, to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and reliable supply chain operations. This position plays a critical role in supporting our goals of being recognized as the highest-quality manufacturer and the most responsive, customer-focused organization in our industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Procurement Supply Chain Management
  • Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies to improve quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
  • Analyze procurement data and conduct spend analysis to support decision-making.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and improve supplier and cost performance.

Supplier & Vendor Management

  • Source, evaluate, and engage reliable suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and contracts to achieve optimal value.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term supplier relationships.
  • Conduct regular supplier evaluations based on quality, performance, cost, and reliability.
  • Perform quarterly site visits to key supplier facilities.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support

  • Partner with quantities (ROQ).
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Sales, Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, Warehouse, and Shipping/Receiving teams.
  • Communicate and resolve supplier issues related to delivery, quality, pricing, or terms.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure procurement practices comply with all applicable regulations and standards.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply conditions to anticipate material availability.
  • Participate in trade shows and industry events to identify new sourcing opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within procurement processes.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary education (college, university, or equivalent) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment highly preferred
  • Supervisory experience considered an asset
  • Minimum 5 years of ERP system experience
