The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $100,000 - $150,000 per year. GEA Group has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States.

The pay range is not guaranteed compensation or salary. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for the position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. Job Summary: 

Responsible for generating new and custom plant business related to equipment offered by GEA in the Dairy application market area. Develops relationships in a consultative selling role. Identifies qualifies and pursues leads. Gathers market intelligence. Thoroughly communicates customer requirements within the company. 

Coordinates the sales effort with other functions within the company. Manages the flow of information between the company and our customers.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for obtaining capital equipment orders with a yearly budget set by the Director for the RSMs dedicated territory and technology matrix. 

  • Develop relationships with key buyers which enables identification, qualification and pursuit of leads and gathering of market intelligence 

  • Penetrate market proactively to generate new business opportunities. Thoroughly communicate customer requirements within the company. Coordinate the sales effort with other functions within the company. 

  • Effect sales of GEA systems; represent the company in a professional manner 

  • Identify sales leads, qualify, pursue and capture 

  • Develop trusting relationships based upon expertise, integrity and friendliness 

  • Acquire sales and market intelligence on issues such as competition, price, and project status 

  • Handle telephone and written inquiries and aggressively follow up in a timely manner throughout the sales process until final determination of customer action 

  • Seek advice and guidance with respect to above from GEA process or mechanical engineers when appropriate 

  • Make a persuasive formal proposal presentation 

  • Participate in trade shows as assigned 

  • Negotiate secrecy agreements, terms & conditions of sale in combined effort with the Business unit management 

  • Issue order confirmations and participate in turnover meetings with project management, product managers, process engineers, purchasing and Admin staff 

  • Report on activity, proposal status and forecasts 

  • Manage expense account for travel and entertainment in a timely manner 

  • Contributes to team effort by completing all tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor 

  • Coordination with our Service organization on customer visits, technical solution and price level, so the customer will experience a “one face to customer approach”.  

Your Profile / Qualifications

  • Experience Technologies include Evaporation, Spray Drying, Powder Handling and Packaging. Experience in Liquid Processing, Membrane Filtration is a plus

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of Dairy Industry and/or Technical experience in applicable technologies

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively communicate technical data and engineering systems

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal

  • Must possess good interpersonal skills and work well in a team setting as well as independently

  • Experience of minimum 3 years with spray drying and other dairy techniques a plus

  • Skills in contract negotiations and other relevant experience

  • Applicant travel approximately 50%; desired to reside in the mid-west region a plus

  • Must have a passport and a US Drivers License
