Job Description

Our client, a Fortune 500 chemical manufacturer, is seeking to hire a Senior Solubilization Scientist who will work in the specialty ingredients group. This group has been working on spray dried and melt extruded solid dispersions and associated products for over a decade and has extensive experience in process technology and formulation development.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Providing deep technical expertise regarding the development of pharmaceutical products through hot melt extrusion (HME) and spray drying.
  • Designing, initiating and executing studies, and interpreting the study results
  • Assimilating and analyzing data into reports, posters, and journal articles.
  • Presenting study results to internal and external audience
  • Managing multiple projects, estimating timeline and resources, and coordinating efforts to meet timeline
  • Training the technical and sales team in formulation development with emphasis in solid dispersions.
  • Working closely with other R&D sites and technical support teams to solve challenging technical problems for customers.
  • Conducting necessary literature search
  • Maintaining lab notebooks and logbooks in accordance with company guidelines
  • Comply with company procedural guidelines, laboratory procedures, and safety programs.
Qualifications


Experience/ other certification required:

  • Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering with 4+ years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development, or MS degree with minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Thorough understanding on formulation processes such as granulation, tableting and coating.
  • Thorough knowledge on solid dispersions and analytical techniques used to characterize amorphous solid dispersions.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with hot melt extrusion and / or spray drying
  • Fundamental understanding on pharmaceutical product development
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills


Experience Desired:

  • Strong scientific understanding on bio pharmaceutics
  • Working knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE), Microsoft Office Suite, and statistical analysis.
