About the Role

The Senior Interior Designer plays a pivotal role within the Design Studio, leading the creative development of multiple projects from concept through completion. This position combines strong design expertise with project management acumen, ensuring that every project reflects the brand’s vision, operational goals, and regional character. This role provides guidance to junior team members while collaborating closely with design managers, regional project managers, and cross-functional partners to deliver exceptional, design-driven guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Design Leadership & Project Execution

  • Lead the creative process for assigned projects across all phases — from concept and schematic design to construction documentation and installation.

·         Develop and present compelling design narratives, concept packages, material palettes, and FF&E selections that align with the brand DNA and property’s unique context.

·         Translate conceptual ideas into detailed design solutions that balance creativity, functionality, and budget requirements.

·         Participate in research and development efforts to identify regional materials, artisans, and vendors that enrich project storytelling.

·         Apply and uphold brand and regional design standards, while contributing creative ideas that evolve and strengthen the brand’s design language.

·         Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including procurement, operations, and consultants, to ensure design intent is maintained through execution. Ensure design is within budget and meets project schedule. 

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including Architecture, regional Project Management, Procurement, Food & Beverage, SRI Design Central and Product Development teams, to create cohesive and operationally sound design solutions.
  • Liaise with on-site Project Managers to promptly resolve construction/installation issues
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and feedback to junior designers, fostering growth, accountability, and technical/creative proficiency.

·         Contribute to the creative culture of the studio through collaboration, inspiration sharing, and thought leadership

Project Documentation & Communication

  • Create, organize and manage design budgets, as well as design requisitions and specifications in Fohlio
  • Collaborate with internal Architectural Designers to execute production and construction documents, managing project timelines and leading collaborative conversations with external consultants. Participate in the architectural design process by reviewing and analyzing project documentation.
  • Produce high-quality design presentations and documentation, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and brand alignment.
  • Participate in project programming meetings, ensuring all HPI partners are included in relevant discussions. Lead project hand-over meetings and CD page turn meetings. Create detailed “Look-book” or hand over documents to ensure operational support and maintenance.
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, RFI’s and prototypes to ensure alignment with design intent and quality standards.
  • Travel to job sites for project installations, and for property inspection reports.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of interior design experience, with a strong focus in hospitality, F&B, and branded environments
  • Experience working on high-end hotel/resort projects
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong eye for detail, storytelling, and spatial quality
  • Proficiency in industry tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and FF&E sourcing platforms
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field
  • NCIDQ certification or LEED AP is a plus
  • International hospitality project experience is highly desirable

 WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Office Hours: Standard office hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm or 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Physical Demands: Moving furniture, etc., when on project installations.  Job sites can include hardhat construction conditions.

Travel Requirements: Travel to the Caribbean is required to assist senior team members in resort inspections and project installations. Frequency of travel as required by Sandals Resorts International (SRI) and HPID Directors and may include weekends and holidays.  A valid passport is required to travel to the Caribbean.
