Job description

The Exhibition Content & Experience Manager leads the development of engaging experiences and content at the Museum, transforming scientific concepts into accessible activations and narratives. This position collaborates with diverse teams to create inspiring visitor experiences, ensuring alignment with the Museum's mission. The candidate's passion for science and the natural world will be persuasive, capable of transforming our guests into science advocates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Content Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead the content development process for exhibitions and live experiences, ensuring all storytelling is impactful and resonant with a global audience
  • Strategically translate complex scientific principles into relevant, clear, and compelling visitor journeys that support the Museum's mission and key initiatives
  • Develop industry-leading activations that utilize science to inspire guests of all ages, fostering a sense of wonder and intellectual inquiry
  • Champion an engaging, accessible approach to science communication; oversee the development of seamless bilingual (English and Spanish) content
  • Maintain an active and sophisticated engagement with emerging scientific issues and exhibition practices to ensure the Museum remains a thought leader in the field

Collaboration & Integration
  • Partner with exhibit department managers, cross-functional teams, subject matter experts and designers to unify science and big ideas into cohesive, institution-wide narratives
  • Manage the cross-divisional review process, ensuring all content meets the museum's standards of scientific accuracy, institutional tone, and visitor impact
  • Identify and manage specialized writing talent and creative consultants to maintain a consistent and authoritative "voice" across all exhibitions
  • Incorporate visitor feedback and evaluation data to refine current experiences and inform future content and experience strategies

Project Management
  • Manage internal and external content schedules, ensuring the high-quality delivery of strategic assets within project timelines
  • Document and uphold best practices in exhibition development to ensure a premier guest experience from conceptualization through installation

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is a strong science communicator who combines curiosity, storytelling ability, and collaborative project skills to bring scientific ideas to life.
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field and a firm understanding of informal science communication
  • At least five years of experience developing content for large-scale exhibitions or guest activations, specifically within a science or natural history context
  • An ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences through a sophisticated and authentic passion for science communication
  • A mastery of storytelling, with the ability to balance technical precision with evocative, mission-driven experiences
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams toward a shared creative goal
  • The ability to incorporate visitor feedback and evaluation insights into content development.
  • A deep commitment to the Museum's core values and mission

Highly preferred:
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish to support the Museum's commitment to broad community engagement
