Job description

FMOL Health | Our Lady of the Lake is seeking a physician to join our multidisciplinary Hearing & Balance Center, a nationally recognized program specializing in complex dizziness, vertigo, tinnitus, and balance disorders.

This is a consultative outpatient role working alongside neurotology, audiology, and vestibular physical therapy teams to evaluate and manage medically complex patients referred from primary care and specialty providers. We are one of the few centers in the country dedicated exclusively to comprehensive vestibular and balance disorder evaluation using an academically based, multidisciplinary approach.

Why This Role Exists:

Due to the growing surgical and clinical demand within the OLOL Hearing & Balance Center, this position was created to expand medical capacity and improve access for patients with complex balance disorders while allowing subspecialty physicians to focus on advanced surgical care.

The selected physician will become an integral member of a highly specialized team managing some of the most diagnostically complex outpatient cases in otology and neurotology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical evaluation and consultation for patients with dizziness, vertigo, tinnitus, and imbalance
  • Identify and manage systemic, neurologic, and medication-related contributors to vestibular symptoms
  • Collaborate closely with neurotology, audiology, and vestibular physical therapy teams to develop coordinated care plans
  • Assist in medication management related to migraine-associated dizziness, anxiety, and polypharmacy effects
  • Contribute to clinical interpretation and integration of advanced vestibular testing (training provided)
  • Serve as a consultative liaison between subspecialty care and referring providers
  • Support ongoing optimization of multidisciplinary care pathways for complex neurotology patients

Training & Support:

A comprehensive training program will be provided directly by our world-renowned Neurotologist.

Training will include:

  • Vestibular and balance disorder fundamentals
  • Interpretation of advanced vestibular testing
  • Clinical frameworks for complex dizziness and tinnitus evaluation
  • Multidisciplinary care coordination within a tertiary neurotology center

No prior experience in vestibular medicine is required.

Ideal Candidate:

We are seeking a physician who is intellectually curious and enjoys complex diagnostic medicine.

Preferred backgrounds include:

  • Internal Medicine
  • Family Medicine
  • Physicians with interest in neurology-adjacent conditions or multisystem outpatient care

The ideal candidate may have experience or interest in:

  • Migraine management
  • Chronic dizziness or functional neurologic symptoms
  • Anxiety-related somatic conditions
  • Complex outpatient diagnostic reasoning
  • Collaborative specialty care environments

Position Highlights:

  • Outpatient-only practice
  • No call responsibilities
  • Highly collaborative multidisciplinary environment
  • Direct mentorship from a world-renowned neurotologist
  • Rare opportunity to develop expertise in a highly specialized field
  • Academic-level case complexity in a community-based setting
  • Strong team-based support structure (ENT, audiology, PT, specialty testing)
