The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting solar installation crews by completing electrical tie-ins, performing main panel upgrades (MPUs), and ensuring each system meets code, quality, and safety standards. Active Michigan Electrical Journeyman License required.

Responsibilities: 

Electrical Installation and Service

  • Execute the full electrical scope of residential solar installations, including AC disconnects, tie-ins, and MPUs.
  • Perform full-service panel upgrades as needed for solar integration.
  • Safely bend conduit, operate tools, and manage workspace efficiently.

Troubleshooting and Diagnostics

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot inverter errors, low voltage issues, and existing system faults.
  • Collaborate with internal managers and inspectors to increase efficiency and productivity.

Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure all installations meet National Electrical Code (NEC), Michigan Electrical Code, and Ambia Energy standards.
  • Maintain safe job sites and follow company safety protocols.

Customer Communication and Documentation

  • Communicate effectively with homeowners and office staff regarding electrical services.
  • Maintain documentation and complete inspection requirements in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of residential solar products such as inverters and modules.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code and the Michigan Electrical Code.
  • OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain.
  • NABCEP certification is preferred, but not required.
  • A valid U.S. driver’s license is required.
  • A clean driving record is required (no more than one moving violation in the past year and no more than two moving violations within the past 4 years).
  • A background check will be performed on all new hires. 
  • Ability to think critically, problem solve, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with technology devices (i.e. iOS and Android).
  • An appetite for ownership and accountability.
  • An attitude of seeing ways to get a job done rather than looking for reasons why it can’t be done.
