Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer (ME), Sr designs, implements, sustains, and improves manufacturing processes and systems optimizing quality, safety, delivery, and cost. They collaborate cross functionally to ensure root causes of production stoppages and constraints are well understood and resolved. The ME, Sr ensures existing and new production processes comply with applicable safety and regulatory standards while also meeting capacity and capability requirements. The ME, Sr is typically aligned to complex operational excellence (OpEx) initiatives and assigned projects that span broader value streams focused on manufacturing systems or the physical factory to transform capacity, capability, and competitiveness.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Strategically plans, designs, and implements manufacturing processes after a structured evaluation of alternatives. Collaborates with appropriate subject matter experts to design and implement processes that meet all applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops part fabrication and/or product assembly Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) route strategies and standards (setup and run times, operation sequence, etc.) and related documentation.
  • Provides mentorship and technical leadership to MEs and ME Technicians individually and within a team to coordinate and resolve production issues (quality escalations, machine down, part shortage, etc.).
  • Creates and maintains manufacturing work instructions and related governing procedures to ensure appropriate access, review/approval, training, and change management.
  • Supports new product development and introduction (NPD/NPI) program core teams providing design review, DFM, tool/fixture planning, work cell design and validation, part quoting, and inspection methodology.
  • Engages with production leadership and team members to identify and prioritize highest impact continuous improvement (CI) initiatives. Develops, monitors and improves a balanced scorecard that includes metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for quality, inventory, delivery, and safety.
  • Leads continuous improvement (CI) initiatives to optimize processes, reduce waste, and improve product quality. Utilize value stream mapping, kaizen, lean strategies and six sigma statistical methods to reduce waste and optimize systems.
  • Collaborates with production leadership on capital and expense budgets and roadmaps. Leads the deployment of new equipment and related processes ensuring safety, training, preventive maintenance, documentation, and process controls are validated.
  • Contributes to corporate and manufacturing system accuracy and effectiveness for processes such as engineering change orders (ECOs) and document control.
  • Manages budgets, timelines, risk, and resources for assigned projects. Provides written and verbal updates with appropriate frequency and detail across a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to understand part/product/process variability utilizing structured problem-solving techniques and statistical methods. Develops and implements data analytics to inform decision-making.
  • Evaluates internal and external quality data to drive product/process improvements and executes assigned Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) initiatives. Determines and deploys appropriate quality control methods for inspection, testing, and process monitoring.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
