Sloomoo Institute is a rapidly growing interactive experience based on slime and ASMR. We are an art-inspired, immersive haven of color, design and play. Launched in NYC in the fall of 2019, Sloomoo Institute has been an enormous success, attracting hundreds of thousands of guests and billions of media impressions. Even more, play is known to support stress relief as much as it does your imagination! Driven by a mission to provide reprieve from the chaos of the world, the brand has close ties to mental health non-profits and a dedication to inclusion and supporting neurodiversity through our experience and our workforce.

Position Summary:

The General Manager will oversee all operations of their location(Boston Institute). In this role you will be responsible for the strategic and daily operations of the Sloomoo Institute leading a staff of 40+ on a daily basis to deliver an exceptional experience for our guests and at the same time you will be manufacturing thousands of tons of slime every year. You will lead the daily operation and management of Sloomoo Institute, creating an inclusive culture and a warm welcome for our guests, volunteers, and staff.

The General Manager will be confident in managing people, projects and budgets, and will know when to delegate and when to take ownership. They will bring a positive and empowering attitude to the team, and their motivating approach will ensure delivery to a high standard across the site. They will be able to work with a range of different stakeholders and demonstrate flexibility and a proactive and diplomatic approach to problem-solving. The General Manager will take the lead on the planning and delivery of work streams, ensuring that the Chief Operations Officer is kept informed and involved in key decision making.

Responsibilities:
  • Have FUN
  • Identify and engage with relevant influencers across various platforms to create brand partnerships and collaborations.
  • Execute marketing strategies to increase brand visibility, reach, and engagement among target audiences.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging platforms in your market to innovate and enhance influencer marketing strategies.
  • Full P&L responsibility
  • Develop and manage multi-million-dollar budget, forecast and profitability
  • Manage floor manager, kitchen manager, retail store manager, security team and staff
  • Manage procurement and inventory
  • Manage guest service
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures
  • Ensure staff are following all Standard Operating Procedures
  • Manage staffing agencies when necessary
  • Maintain brand integrity throughout the experience
  • Develop and manage processes to create and roll-out new slimes, slime products, improve productivity, inventory control, etc.
  • Provide leadership and line management to the Sloomoo Institute team, ensuring that resourcing is planned for new developments, and staffing is managed across the site
  • Support all operational departments to regularly review their working practices, and seek improvements to reduce the likelihood of accidents
  • Lead quarterly Health & Safety Committee meetings, attended by representatives of all departments
  • Maximize guest admissions income from the forecast and work with the senior management team, setting future forecasts and budgets
  • Control Labor spend to ensure we are hitting and exceeding targets
  • Manage P&L
  • Provide a world class guest experience as evidenced by positive survey results
  • Provide an engaging and rewarding workplace for all employees with a competitive retention rate and proven promotion
  • Deliver and contribute to the evolution of the Sloomoo Brand
  • Meet (and exceed) projected guest count and projections
  • Creation and implement of improvements for guest satisfaction, employee experience and revenue growth
  • Data Driven - use data to drive your decision making for sales and production
  • Complete accident/incident report with documented follow through and resolution for each accident/incident within 24 hours of the incident
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Experience of operational management within a guest-facing operation
  • Budgetary and line management experience (essential)
  • Ability to prioritize the needs of the different departments
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly and approachable manner with staff from across the organization, ensuring good working relationships
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key consultants and contractors
  • Ability to engage with colleagues in a diplomatic manner
  • Energetic, perceptive, confident problem solver with a good sense of humor
