Job Summary: Manages planning, development, implementation, and oversight for safety, security and transportation programs for the Center. Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, students and visitors by establishing and enforcing policies and supervising security staff.


Duties:

  • Ensures the safety and security of students, staff, visitors and property.
  • Provides direct oversight and supervision of safety, security and transportation.
  • Ensures the enforcement of all laws, rules and policies within scope of authority.
  • Serves as liaison with local law enforcement, fire, and local code officials.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety, security and transportation plans and procedures. 
  • Coordinates the Center's emergency preparedness plan.
  • Conducts and documents inspections and implements plans to abate identified hazards.
  • Leads the Safety Committee.   
  • Conducts safety drills (fire, lockdown, evacuation, etc.).
  • Performs or assists with accident investigation, safety and security concerns and implements corrective action. 
  • Performs building safety and security checks.
  • Coordinates the training of personnel in areas of safety, including first aid, CPR, accident prevention, investigation and reporting, workplace inspections and other matters related to implementing safety procedures.
  • Schedule and coordinate center transportation needs.
  • Maintain logs for vehicle use, maintenance and fuel usage.  
  • Investigate vehicle accidents involving Center vehicles and file appropriate reports. 
  • Ensures compliance with DOT, OSH, DOL guidelines, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures and other safety and transportation regulations.
  • Adheres to required property controls policies and procedures.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices.
  • Models, mentors and monitors appropriate career success skills.
  • Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement.
  • Participates in PRH mandated staff training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the individual's scope and capabilities.

Requirements

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Computer literacy skills, specifically Internet, e-mail, MS Word and Excel; must be able to work any shift and day of the week; ability to obtain a commercial drivers' license and ability to travel periodically. Requires an extensive knowledge of federal, state and local environmental, health and safety laws.

Experience: Minimum three years' security experience with a minimum of one year in youth programs or law enforcement. Security or military experience preferred.

Education: Bachelor's Degree with three years security experience with one year in a supervisory capacity preferably in a residential setting.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid State Drivers' License.
