Job Title: Robotics Engineer (R&D) - Circuit design and build; system integration

Location: Onsite in Campbell, CA

Duration: 6-month Temp-to-Perm

Interview Process: 3 rounds. First round will be 30–45-minute screening with hiring manager. Second round and third round will involve onsite interviews with the remainder of the team.

Scope/Position Overview:

Client is seeking a Robotic Engineer (R&D) to join their Engineering team. This is an impact-driven role for an engineer who thrives on building automated mechatronic systems from the ground up. The ideal candidate is creative, ambitious, technically versatile, and deeply passionate about robotics, with the opportunity to directly influence product development and see tangible results from their work. Key focus here is de-emphasizing the customer facing portion of the role from last time around. This will involve heavy work in Robotics, information management, electrical engineering, code management, skilled with GitHub repo management. Effective in multiple programming languages.   

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and implement automated machines and manufacturing processes
  • Develop test apparatus and conduct Design of Experiments (DoE) for quality control and product validation
  • Serve as a robotics subject matter expert (SME) while collaborating cross-functionally with Manufacturing and Applications Engineering teams
  • Interact directly with customers and external research partners
  • Manage GitHub repositories and maintain clean, well-documented codebases
  • Conduct detailed technical research and document findings
  • Create, review, and maintain technical documentation
  • Manage time effectively to ensure on-time delivery of assignments
  • Take ownership of assigned projects from concept through execution
  • Report directly to the Head of Engineering

Necessary Skills:

Robotics & Mechatronics

  • Proven track record in robotics R&D
  • Experience with ROS, Linux, control systems, and full system integration

Programming & Software

  • Proficiency in C++, Python, MATLAB
  • Version control using Git/GitHub

Hardware & Electronics (Most Important) 

  • Have to know how to build Circuit design (and system integration), building, and troubleshooting (from prototype/concept to production)
  • Hardware prototyping experience
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)

Design & Documentation

  • Proficiency with CAD tools
  • Strong ability to create, review, and edit technical documentation

Professional Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated project ownership and time management skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in an engineering-related discipline with 5+ years of related experience
  • OR
  • Master’s degree in an engineering-related discipline with 3+ years of related experience
