Scope of Position
The Robot Welder is responsible for programming, operating, and troubleshooting robotic welding equipment while maintaining high quality and productivity standards across all product lines. This role builds upon the Combination Welder skillset and requires experience in both manual and automated welding processes.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with Flux Cored Arc, Stick, MIG, TIG, and plasma welding processes on materials such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and nickel, and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
This position reports to the Production Supervisor. This role is onsite and is based in Blauvelt, NY.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Set up, program, and operate robotic welding equipment
  • Perform robot programming adjustments and touch-ups for quality and consistency
  • Start welding cycles, monitor output, and adjust parameters within established guidelines
  • Troubleshoot welding issues related to process, materials, and design
  • Inspect and verify weld quality per engineering specifications
  • Perform basic troubleshooting on robotic equipment, torches, wire feeders, fixtures, and sensors
  • Escalate complex equipment or process issues as needed
  • Follow all standard welding procedures and safety protocols
  • Achieve and maintain ASME Certification (Combination Welder)
  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor or Company management.
  • Responsibility directly tied to Watts Value (Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency)

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of welding experience
  • Experience with robotic welding or automated manufacturing environments
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols
  • Basic knowledge of welding inspection tools and methods
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal)
  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, including drug screen, and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS welding certifications
  • Prior experience with robotic programming or advanced automation systems

While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site in a manufacturing facility. You will be required to work at the Company's Blauvelt, NY. Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.
Physical Requirements: Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to physically move around manufacturing floor.
  • Ability to read documents and communicate clearly with management and coworkers.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, which may include, but is not limited to, safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses.

Pay Range:
This is a union position. The starting hourly rate is $33.38. The job classification has a top hourly rate of $36.36, which is attained following one year of service.
