Manager Robotics Engineer Localization information

What does a manager robotics engineer localization do?

A Manager Robotics Engineer Localization leads teams that develop and refine the technology enabling robots to determine their precise position and orientation in various environments. This role involves overseeing projects focused on algorithms and systems for mapping, navigation, and sensor fusion. The manager collaborates with engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure robust and efficient localization solutions for robotic applications, such as autonomous vehicles or warehouse automation. Responsibilities also include mentoring staff, setting technical direction, and ensuring projects meet performance and safety standards.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a manager robotics engineer localization?

To thrive as a Manager Robotics Engineer Localization, you need expertise in robotics, localization algorithms (such as SLAM), and a relevant engineering degree, often paired with experience in project or team management. Familiarity with ROS (Robot Operating System), C++/Python programming, and simulation tools like Gazebo, as well as certifications in robotics or project management, are commonly required. Strong leadership, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities help you lead teams and coordinate complex, multidisciplinary projects. These skills ensure the successful development and deployment of accurate localization solutions in robotics systems, driving innovation and team performance.

What are some common challenges faced by a manager robotics engineer localization, and how can they be addressed?

Managers in robotics engineering localization often encounter challenges such as integrating localization algorithms with real-world sensor data, ensuring robust performance in diverse environments, and managing cross-functional teams with varied expertise. Addressing these challenges requires strong communication skills, proactive problem-solving, and fostering close collaboration between software developers, hardware engineers, and research scientists. Regular team meetings, continuous testing in different scenarios, and investing in professional development can help ensure successful project outcomes and innovation in localization solutions.

What is the difference between Manager Robotics Engineer Localization vs Robotics Engineer Localization?

AspectManager Robotics Engineer LocalizationRobotics Engineer Localization
CredentialsBachelor's/Master's in Robotics, Engineering, or related; leadership experienceBachelor's/Master's in Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering
Work EnvironmentTeam leadership, project management, strategic planningDesign, development, testing of localization systems
Employer & Industry UsageRobotics companies, tech firms, manufacturingRobotics development, research labs, automation firms

The Manager Robotics Engineer Localization oversees localization projects, manages teams, and aligns strategies with company goals. In contrast, the Robotics Engineer Localization focuses on technical development and implementation of localization systems. Both roles require engineering expertise, but the manager role emphasizes leadership and project oversight.

Job description

???? CST | Senior Robotics & Automation Software Engineer (Lead)

???? Oklahoma City, OK (On-Site) / Relocation Welcomed!

???? Partnered Search via Career Staffing Talent (CST)

???? Full-Time | Robotics | Aerospace Automation

???? Competitive Base + Bonus (DOE)

Career Staffing Talent (CST) is partnered with a next-generation robotics company deploying Robots-as-a-Service (RaaS) solutions across aerospace manufacturing and maintenance environments.

This is not a “lab role.” This is real-world robotics at scale.

We’re looking for a Lead Software Engineer to architect and deploy autonomous systems operating in mission-critical, production environments. You’ll sit at the center of perception, planning, and motion — owning systems end-to-end and helping define how these robots perform in the field.

If you’re a builder who wants to see your code move physical systems in the real world, this is worth a conversation.

All inquiries are strictly confidential.

???? What You’ll Own

• Lead development of robotic and mobile manipulator software systems operating in production environments

• Architect real-time systems across motion control, kinematics, and trajectory planning

• Build autonomy stacks — perception, localization, mapping, sensor fusion, intelligent task execution

Develop and scale ROS 2 / MoveIt pipelines (C++ / Python)

• Own full-stack integration across mechanical, electrical, and controls systems

• Optimize system performance — latency, synchronization, calibration, and reliability

• Design simulation environments, HIL testing frameworks, and telemetry pipelines

• Set the bar for engineering — code quality, CI/CD, testing, and system robustness

Mentor engineers and lead design + code reviews

• Partner with operations to deploy and support robotic systems in the field

???? What You Bring

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS, Robotics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or related

• 4+ years building robotics, autonomy, or industrial automation systems

• Strong in modern C++ (14/17/20) and Python

Hands-on with ROS 2, MoveIt, and real-world robotic systems (manipulation or autonomy)

• Deep fundamentals: kinematics, control systems, motion planning, perception

• Experience in Linux environments with Git, CI/CD, and debugging tools

• Track record of leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers

• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (required)

• Willingness to travel (~10%)

⭐ Bonus Points

• Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, or related field

• Advanced computer vision / 3D perception (SLAM, calibration, inspection pipelines)

• Field deployment experience with industrial robotic systems

• ML applied to perception, inspection, or decision-making

• Cloud / distributed systems (AWS, telemetry, OTA updates)

• Data architecture for large-scale robotics systems

• Embedded systems + industrial protocols (CAN, EtherCAT, Modbus)

• Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing experience

???? Why This Role

• Your work goes from code → robot → real-world execution

• High ownership — you’re shaping systems, not maintaining them

• Direct exposure to both engineering and field operations

• Opportunity to help define next-gen autonomy in aerospace environments

• This is a high-impact seat — you won’t be another cog in the wheel; you’ll directly shape how real-world robotic systems are built, deployed, and scaled.

If this aligns — or even if you’re just curious — happy to share full details (team, roadmap, comp, technical stack).

CST | Builds teams that move the needle — not just fill seats.
