JOB SUMMARY:
Staff Reliability Engineer: Senior-level engineering role focused on ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of medical diagnostic systems and infrastructure. Responsible for designing and implementing reliability strategies, conducting failure analysis, and collaborating with development and operations teams to improve system resilience. Leads initiatives to automate monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis, aiming to minimize downtime and enhance overall system stability. Often mentors junior engineers and contributes to reliability best practices across the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reliability Strategy & Planning
  • Define and own the organization's reliability strategy for medical instrumentation, establishing expert-level frameworks, standards, and long-term reliability roadmaps.
  • Develop advanced reliability requirements and qualification criteria informed by deep knowledge of customer use-cases, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices.
  • Lead complex reliability allocation and prediction modeling (MTBF, FIT, life-modeling), leveraging innovative analytical methods to improve predictive accuracy.
  • Establish reliability growth strategies and metrics; provide strategic recommendations that guide product architecture and long-term sustainment plans.
  • Direct high-complexity reliability studies such as FMECAs, maintainability modeling, and testability assessments, ensuring cross-team adoption of best practices.

Lifetime & Environmental Testing
  • Architect and oversee accelerated life testing methodologies (ALT, HALT, HASS) at module and system levels; introduce new techniques to optimize stress conditions and uncover emerging failure modes.
  • Lead environmental test campaigns (thermal, humidity, vibration, shock) and interpret complex multi-factor degradation behaviors.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise-level environmental stress screening strategies for electronic and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Establish advanced degradation monitoring frameworks that support predictive maintenance and reliability forecasting.

Failure Analysis & Root Cause Investigation
  • Lead resolution of the most complex and high-impact failures across development and production, driving structured methodologies (FMEA, 8D, Weibull) to closure.
  • Serve as the organization's expert on failure physics, guiding cross-functional teams and suppliers through deep root-cause investigations.
  • Influence supplier reliability performance by defining and enforcing advanced component-level reliability requirements and corrective-action frameworks.

Design for Reliability (DfR)
  • Partner with R&D as the technical authority to embed reliability principles into product architecture, including thermal systems, mechanical robustness, and component selection.
  • Recommend strategic design modifications and materials innovations that significantly extend product lifetime and reduce long-term failure risk.
  • Influence design decisions across multiple disciplines using expert-level knowledge of reliability engineering and system interactions.

Data Analysis & Reliability Modeling
  • Lead the creation and interpretation of complex statistical models using field, warranty, ALT, and HALT data, identifying trends with broad impact on product strategy.
  • Provide expert-level Weibull, life-data, and multi-variable analyses to guide design teams, quality engineering, and executive decision-makers.
  • Maintain and evolve enterprise reliability databases; champion data-driven reliability insights that shape functional strategy.
