Job Title: Production / Manufacturing Engineer
Department: Production Engineering
Reports to: Sr. Manager Production Engineering and Quality
FLSA: Exempt
Position Summary:
Provides Engineering support for production processes, including the development and costing of machines, equipment, tooling and materials and the continuous improvement of production processes from an engineering perspective.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops, tests, sources and evaluates costs of tooling, machinery and equipment for recommended production methods.
Defines specifications for fixtures and equipment.
Obtains vendor quotations and compares costs for equipment, tooling and machinery.
Calculates man-hours for each work/activity.
Provides engineering expertise in the areas of tooling, prints, specifications, machine maintenance, raw materials and vended products.
Determines methods, materials and layouts for improvement based on manufacturing needs and capabilities, costs and quality.
Ensures timely communication flow and coordination between company personnel and customers/suppliers.
Completes special assignments as requested.
Skills and Experience:
Engineering degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong computer and math skills.
Strong problem solving skills, including ability to collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions and recommended effective corrective action.
Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and maintain accuracy.
Ability to work under strict timelines to meet deadlines.
Is able to work successfully in a team environment.
Strong vendor negotiation skills.
Advanced understanding of general business practices, and specific understanding of production, engineering, design, safety and quality assurance.
Technical skills in manufacturing engineering, production, quality assurance, budgeting and costing.
Basic knowledge of air, electric and hydraulic circuits.
Ability to read sequence circuit.
Fixture and mold (die) development preferred (defining specifications and vendor negotiation).
Ability to program robots, 3 axis robot programming experience a plus.
Previous experience in automotive manufacturing or in a multi-cultural environment a plus.
Is able to travel in the United States and abroad.
