Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Monitoring & Assessment: Perform comprehensive post-anesthesia assessments, closely monitoring airway management, hemodynamic stability, and pain control.
  • Diverse Service Lines: Observe and treat post-operative patients from a wide variety of specialties including General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Urology, Complex GYN, Vascular/Thoracic, Endoscopy, and Radiology.
  • Clinical Collaboration: Work closely with Anesthesiologists, Surgeons, and proceduralists to ensure seamless continuity of care and rapid stabilization.
  • Medication & Treatment: Administer medications, treatments, and life-support interventions according to established policies and patient acuity needs.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients and their families regarding post-operative care, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions.

Qualifications
  • Education: Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing required. BSN or MSN preferred.
  • License/Certification: Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in Virginia (or eligible to obtain). Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire. ACLS and PALS are required prior to completion of unit orientation.
  • Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of hospital RN experience, with specific experience in Critical Care or PACU.
  • Skills: Ability to manage complex cases in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary providers.
