What is the Opportunity?

Aecon's rapidly growing federal business is seeking Construction Managers to lead the planning and execution of construction projects at Department of Energy, Department of War and US Army Corp of Engineer facilities. In this role, you will lead cross functional teams, manage subcontractors and suppliers, and ensure all project deliverables meet Aecon's rigorous standards for safety, quality, cost, and schedule. Successful candidates will be play a key role in the growth and success of our business unit and manage integration and construction on our projects.

Citizenship Requirement:
This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. As a result, applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Serve as the primary interface with our clients construction personnel to ensure timely communication and maintain a positive relationship.
  • Lead construction tasks to proactively identify potential project problems or opportunities, analyze the issues using all appropriate resources, develop alternatives, and arrive at the most optimum approach to mitigate problems or exploit opportunities.
  • Accountable for OSHA, project and corporate compliance on all site safety and human performance issues, and for collaborating with the project Safety Leader to establish a positive safety culture.
  • Provide input in the development of comprehensive project execution plans, schedules, and budgets integrating engineering and procurement
  • Ensure Aecon projects are staffed with competent and qualified trades (including trades leadership) resources to meet Project execution needs.
  • Support in the resolution of labor disputes through collaboration with Aecon's Labor Relations Manager
  • Provide input for timely change order management and resolution.
  • Support subcontractor performance oversight to ensure safety, quality, and schedule compliance.
  • Develop and implement active risk mitigation strategy.
  • Lead project teams in review and analysis of project performance to ensure safety, quality, and schedule compliance.
  • Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging
  • Support all phases of construction, from pre-construction planning and procurement through commissioning and closeout.
  • Support development of technical solutions to address complex challenges
  • Manage contracts, change orders, RFIs, and other project documentation to ensure compliance with company and client requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to all regulatory and environmental standards.
  • Lead by example to maintain a positive safe respectful work environment and oversee / mentor the work of junior team members.
  • Represent Aecon at progress meetings, client reviews, and site visits, building strong relationships and repeat business.
  • Accountability for conducting routine safety observations and inspections in accordance with corporate policies.
  • Provide construction leadership to project assigned superintendents

What You Bring To The Team:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, project management, facility management or equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in heavy Industrial and or Nuclear construction with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory position.
  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent professional Safety qualifications.
  • Citizen of the United States
  • Ability to obtain DOE/DOD/NRC clearance as necessary
  • Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling, cost management, and risk analysis.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience managing subcontractors
  • Knowledgeable on Construction Work Packages
  • Proven leadership to develop and sustain a positive Nuclear and Industrial Safety Culture.
  • Knowledge to ensure construction activities are performed to NQA1 standards
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work at project sites as required.
