Job description

Citizens is seeking an experienced risk professional to join the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team. This role is responsible for the management and oversight of ERM programs, frameworks, and policies that support strategic risk management across the enterprise. 

The primary focus of the role is to manage and oversee reputation risk as part of the strategic risk framework, including advising management, business lines, and senior leadership and coordinating with key risk partners. Additional focus areas, as assigned, may include oversight of digital asset risks, emerging risks, and other strategic risk topics.

This role ensures strategic and reputation risk practices and oversight are aligned with applicable regulations, industry best practices, and the organization's strategic priorities. The ideal candidate will bring experience in reputation risk and strategic risk management or oversight, enterprise risk frameworks, and second line risk oversight.

Primary responsibilities include

  • Lead and execute enterprise reputation risk evaluation as an input into strategic risk assessments
  • Maintain calibrated reputation risk oversight in alignment with the regulatory expectations and internal frameworks. 
  • Assess and provide credible challenge on reputation risk related to new or modified products, services, and strategic initiatives
  • Manage data collection and analysis for senior-level reporting on reputation risk, including trends and emerging themes  
  • Monitor the external environment and internal risk signals to identify, assess, and escalate emerging risks and related strategic risk topics
  • Provide oversight and credible challenge on assigned strategic risk topics, including digital asset risks, partnering with key stakeholders to evaluate risk implications and recommended actions
  • Collaborate effectively with key stakeholders and risk partners to maintain effective oversight of reputation risk
  • Support the delivery and oversight of key ERM activities

Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

  • Required Qualifications
    • 7-10 years of relevant experience in risk management and oversight, reporting and analytics, governance or audit; experience in second-line, audit, or similar independent risk functions preferred
    • Ability to identify potential reputation impacts related to products, transactions, and business decisions and apply sound judgment in assessing risk implications
    • Working knowledge and practical application of Enterprise Risk Management frameworks, risk taxonomies, regulatory expectations (OCC, FRB, FDIC) and industry best practices
    • Experience preparing management reports, committee decks, and risk assessment documentation; experience supporting discussions with senior management or governance forums
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with ability to effectively challenge and influence stakeholders 
    • Experience with GRC platforms (e.g., Archer)
    • Familiarity with Gen and agentic AI tools
    • Experience running and coordinating cross functional initiatives
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Strong analytical and presentation skills, including ability to synthesize data into clear risk insights and themes

  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday

 Pay Transparency 

The salary range for this position is $133,000 - $174,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
