Job description

Responsibilities

Peraton is delivering advanced mission planning, digital engineering, and commandandcontrol capabilities supporting the U.S. Government's space communications enterprise. Our team uses modern MBSE practices to translate mission needs into precise, traceable, and verifiable technical requirements across a complex, multisystem environment.

As a Senior Requirements Engineer, you will collaborate closely with system integrators, architects, and MBSE teams to define, refine, and document mission planning and component-level specifications. You will ensure requirements are clear, consistent, and verifiable while contributing to the creation of authoritative digital engineering artifacts that drive system design and implementation.

What you'll do:

  • Provide feedback, clarification, and refinement of the Mission Planning Specification in coordination with the System Integrator and architecture teams.
  • Derive componentlevel specifications from missionlevel requirements and from behaviors represented in the MBSE model.
  • Ensure requirements are properly captured, traceable, and aligned with system architecture, interfaces, and model behavior.
  • Support creation of requirement verification artifacts for all mission planning and component-level requirements, ensuring verifiable acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with MBSE practitioners to validate that system behavior, interfaces, and architectures accurately reflect requirement intent.
  • Participate in technical reviews, requirement walkthroughs, and traceability assessments across engineering disciplines.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree and 14+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering related field; OR bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cloud Computing, or related field and 12+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering related field; OR a master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cloud Computing, or related field and 10+ years of experience in a systems engineering related field; OR a Ph.D. and 7+ years of experience. Additional four (4) years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI. The candidate must maintain the clearance
  • Experience performing requirements engineering or systems engineering in a complex software or system-of-systems environment.
  • Ability to derive, decompose, and document system and component requirements based on mission needs, architecture definitions, or MBSE models.
  • Experience reviewing or developing system specifications, interface definitions, or digital engineering artifacts.
  • Knowledge of requirements management tools or MBSE modeling environments used to capture requirement behavior, architecture, or traceability.
  • Experience supporting verification planning, including creation of requirement verification methods, acceptance criteria, or verification artifacts.
  • Ability to interpret system models, behavior diagrams, and architecture views to ensure alignment between requirements and system representation.

Target Salary Range$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
