Job Summary:
As the Manager Statutory Reporting, you will manage a professional team responsible for the preparation and filing of statutory financial statements for all insurance entities. Oversee the preparation and filing of additional state filings as required by state insurance regulators. Provide recommendations to leadership on statutory reporting topics. Develop a team that can scale with the business and create efficiencies while ensuring data compliance and integrity.

Key Responsibilities:
Statutory financial reporting: Manage the development and production of statutory financial reports including the Annual Statements, Quarterly Statements and Audited Financial Statements for all insurance subsidiaries. Manage a team to complete monthly and quarterly close activities. Ensure regulatory compliance, quality, and internal accounting controls. Oversee the preparation of internal financial management reports and board reporting materials. Effectively communicate statutory financial results to senior management.
State regulatory compliance: Manage the preparation and submissions required by state insurance regulators. Coordinate with individuals across the enterprise to provide detailed financial and statistical information in specific formats requested by rating agencies, state insurance examiners and other organizations in the insurance industry.
Recommendations: Prepare analysis, presentations and recommendations regarding statutory data and results. Review research on statutory accounting and emerging issues and propose or incorporate disclosure conclusions. Support the preparation of executive summaries on complex issues requiring extensive research and analysis of statutory reporting requirements for senior management.
Leading a team: Manage, coach, and develop team members. Work with team members to develop skill sets that improve capabilities and ability to achieve superior results. Capable of maintaining oversight of a domestic remote team and third party offshore business staff. Develop and maintain effective and responsive communication with team members to timely identify and understand critical performance factors and accurate financial information.
Scaling and efficiency: Identify and execute opportunities to create efficiencies, scale the team, foster knowledge sharing across the organization, and optimize operating model across a global workforce. Demonstrate an ability to understand data requirements, leverage technology across an organization and assist in implementing system solutions that achieve shared goals across the company.
Skills and Background You'll Need:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.
  • CPA, CMA or MBA (preferred)

Experience:
  • 8 years of combined experience in insurance industry statutory reporting, financial reporting, management reporting, and supervisory experience or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
  • Work experience with public auditing and regulatory agencies (preferred).
  • Supervisory experience leading a team and providing coaching, mentorship and development opportunities.
  • ERP experience with data extraction and report building (preferred).
  • MS Office -- advanced Excel (required)
  • Power BI (preferred)

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.

The actual compensation for this role will be based on a combination of education and experience, knowledge and skills, position budget, internal equity, and market data.
Salary Range:
$97,750.00 - $156,250.00
