This position is best suited for a paralegal with substantial experience handling Chapter 13 matters, along with working knowledge of Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 cases from the debtor side.

The ideal candidate will be confident managing case files from intake through resolution, preparing and filing bankruptcy petitions and schedules, monitoring deadlines, and supporting attorneys in active bankruptcy matters. This role requires strong knowledge of debtor-side procedures, court filings, and client case management in a fast-paced practice.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and electronically file debtor-side bankruptcy petitions, schedules, statements, plans, motions, and related pleadings with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Manage a high-volume caseload focused primarily on Chapter 13 bankruptcies, while also supporting Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 debtor matters.
  • Coordinate case progression from intake through discharge or dismissal, including tracking deadlines, required documents, trustee matters, hearings, and court dates.
  • Draft and prepare Chapter 13 plans, plan modifications, motions, amended schedules, and other case-related filings.
  • Assist attorneys with debtor-side motion practice, contested matters, and ongoing case administration.
  • Maintain organized and accurate case files, docket activity, and bankruptcy calendars to ensure compliance with all court and trustee deadlines.
  • Communicate with clients, trustees, courts, and counsel regarding document collection, case status, filing requirements, and follow-up items.
  • Support attorneys with hearing and trial preparation by organizing exhibits, pleadings, correspondence, and supporting documentation.
  • Draft, revise, and format legal documents based on attorney direction, case developments, and client information.
  • Help ensure all filings, updates, and case activity are completed in accordance with bankruptcy court procedures and firm timelines.

  • Prior experience working as a paralegal or legal support professional in debtor-side bankruptcy law is required.
  • Significant hands-on experience with Chapter 13 bankruptcy matters is required, including preparation of petitions, schedules, plans, and modification filings.
  • Working knowledge of Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 debtor matters is required.
  • Strong familiarity with bankruptcy court procedures, electronic filing systems, and document submission requirements.
  • Experience managing deadlines, docket activity, trustee requirements, hearings, and case milestones in active bankruptcy matters.
  • Ability to maintain accurate case records and handle a high-volume caseload with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a remote environment while providing dependable support to attorneys and clients.
  • Strong written communication, proofreading, organizational, and document formatting skills.
