Job description

 Manager – Surgical Services

Location: Fredericksburg, VA 22408

Schedule: Full-Time

Shift: Days Rotating Weekends

Status: Permanent

This is your opportunity to step into surgical services leadership at a 130+ bed community hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia — a growing, dynamic facility offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services including a 24-hour ER, advanced-technology operating rooms, cancer care, heart and vascular care, obstetrics, neonatal care, ICU, and psychiatric services.

As RN Manager of Surgical Services, you will have 24-hour accountability for the OR and CSR — leading a team of approximately 15 employees across 4 ORs with the full support of a comprehensive healthcare network behind you. This role does not require prior management experience — a strong Charge RN, OR Supervisor, or someone with direct reports and a passion for leadership is exactly what we are looking for.

What You'll Do

As RN Manager of Surgical Services you will assume 24-hour responsibility for supervising, coordinating, and directing OR and CSR activities to ensure consistently high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include managing daily OR operations including the surgical schedule, staffing, productivity, and premium labor utilization, maintaining efficient surgical flow through appropriate allocation of staff, equipment, and supplies, overseeing monthly staff scheduling to ensure adequate staffing levels at all times, serving as an effective resource steward through supply management and process improvement initiatives, analyzing and reporting statistical data for the perioperative service line, participating actively in performance improvement activities and ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements, and meeting and maintaining risk management best practices for OR and Surgical Services.

What's In It For You

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Comprehensive benefits — medical, dental, vision
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Tuition reimbursement and professional development support
  • Generous PTO
  • Days schedule with rotating weekends
  • Leadership development and advancement opportunities within a comprehensive healthcare network

What You'll Need

  • Active Virginia RN license — required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent OR/Surgical Services experience in acute care — required
  • Charge RN, supervisory, or direct report leadership experience — strongly preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program — required
  • BSN — preferred | MSN — a plus
  • BLS — AHA or CPR — American Red Cross — required
  • Management experience not required — strong Charge RN or OR Supervisor will be considered
