Midas Hospitality is seeking an experienced, strategic, and hands-on Area Chief Engineer to provide engineering leadership across a portfolio of hotels within an assigned region. This position serves as the technical leader for multiple properties while maintaining direct responsibility for a designated home hotel.

Working closely with the Corporate Director of Engineering, Regional Operations Leaders, General Managers, and property engineering teams, the Area Chief Engineer drives operational excellence through preventative maintenance programs, capital improvement projects, engineering team development, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished hotel engineering professional with extensive technical expertise, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for developing engineering teams while protecting hotel assets and maximizing operational efficiency.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Area Chief Engineer, you will provide leadership and technical expertise for engineering operations across multiple hotel properties.

Responsibilities include:Regional Engineering Leadership
  • Oversee engineering operations for multiple hotels while maintaining direct responsibility for your assigned home property.
  • Ensure all hotels maintain safe, reliable, and efficient building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, elevators, fire/life safety systems, and building infrastructure.
  • Partner with General Managers and Regional Operations Leaders to establish engineering priorities and operational goals.
  • Provide engineering support during hotel acquisitions, renovations, transitions, and new property openings.
Preventative Maintenance & Asset Management
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventative maintenance programs across the region.
  • Monitor work order completion, preventative maintenance compliance, and engineering performance metrics.
  • Conduct quarterly engineering inspections, work order audits, and property assessments while documenting findings and action plans.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and extend asset life.
Capital Projects & Engineering Initiatives
  • Collaborate with Corporate Engineering on capital improvements, renovations, ADA compliance projects, and building upgrades.
  • Manage project timelines, contractor coordination, and engineering budgets.
  • Support implementation of new engineering technologies and building automation systems.
  • Identify and implement energy conservation initiatives involving HVAC systems, lighting, water usage, and utility management.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Chief Engineers and engineering associates across the region.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, performance management, succession planning, and ongoing training initiatives.
  • Establish standardized engineering procedures and best practices.
  • Promote a culture focused on safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and exceptional service.
Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, brand standards, life safety requirements, and local building regulations.
  • Oversee fire and life safety inspections, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, certifications, and maintenance records.
Operational Support
  • Assist hotels with complex repairs involving HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, and building infrastructure.
  • Provide temporary engineering leadership for hotels experiencing staffing shortages or leadership transitions.
  • Support additional engineering projects and regional initiatives assigned by Corporate Engineering leadership.
What You Bring
  • Experience managing engineering operations for multiple hotels preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of:

  • Experience with CMMS/work order management software and preventative maintenance systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Willingness to travel regularly between assigned hotel properties.
Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, bending, reaching, lifting, and travel between hotel properties. Candidates should be able to lift, push, or move up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed in hotel engineering spaces, mechanical rooms, rooftops, guest areas, and outdoor environments, with occasional exposure to varying temperatures, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, noise, and cleaning chemicals. Travel throughout the assigned region is required.
