Job description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate educator for a unique hybrid role that blends lead classroom teaching with applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy for a unique K-3 private school program One of the Kids Academy for students on the autism spectrum. This position is ideal for someone who identifies first as a teacher and is excited to integrate behavioral strategies into an individualized, high-impact learning environment.

During the school year, this role will primarily function as an Academy Teacher in the morning hours, responsible for planning and delivering instruction, managing the classroom, and driving student academic progress. In the afternoon, the role transitions to providing direct services as an RBT, with ABA responsibilities integrated throughout the day and supported by clinical supervision.

During the summer months, this position transitions to a full-time RBT role, providing direct 1:1 ABA services to clients.

This is a strong opportunity for educators who want more autonomy, smaller class sizes, and the ability to truly individualize instruction while collaborating with a clinical team.

Key Responsibilities:

Academy Teacher Responsibilities (Primary Role):

  • Plan, develop, and deliver daily academic instruction tailored to each student’s individualized learning plan
  • Serve as the lead teacher of record, responsible for classroom structure, pacing, and outcomes
  • Design and adapt lesson plans across core subject areas based on student needs and progress
  • Monitor student performance and adjust instruction using data and ongoing assessment
  • Create a structured, engaging, and supportive classroom environment that promotes independence and learning readiness
  • Integrate behavioral strategies and skill acquisition goals into academic instruction
  • Collaborate closely with BCBAs and clinical staff to align educational and therapeutic goals
  • Communicate regularly with leadership and team members regarding student progress and needs

RBT Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct 1:1 ABA therapy under the supervision of a BCBA
  • Implement individualized treatment plans and behavior intervention strategies
  • Collect and record accurate session data
  • Maintain timely, high-quality documentation (SOAP notes)
  • Support skill generalization across classroom and clinical settings
  • Use naturalistic teaching strategies to reinforce learning and behavior goals

Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience required (lead teacher, special education teacher, or similar role strongly preferred)
  • Experience designing lesson plans and managing a classroom independently
  • Special education or experience with neurodivergent learners highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or related field preferred
  • Strong instructional, organizational, and classroom management skills
  • Ability to collaborate across educational and clinical teams
  • Adaptability to move between structured teaching and therapeutic environments
  • Professional, reliable, and self-directed

RBT Certification:

  • Current RBT certification preferred
  • Candidates without certification may be considered; support will be provided to obtain RBT credentialing
