Job Description
Huntington Ingalls Industries, Mission Technologies Division (HII-MT), is seeking multi-level Radar and Modeling and Simulation Engineers to join our advanced development team. In these roles, you will create and utilize high-fidelity simulations to analyze and predict the performance of advanced radar systems, leveraging deep expertise in MATLAB to model complex radar waveforms, signal processing algorithms, and challenging electronic warfare (EW) environments. Engineers at all levels will play a critical role in shaping system design, developing next-generation capabilities, and ensuring system performance requirements are met. Radar Modeling and Simulation Engineers will contribute to system design and performance analysis while collaborating with internal team members and partner vendors. Senior-level engineers will take on broader responsibilities, applying advanced technical expertise to lead complex analyses, guide architectural decisions, and influence the direction of future radar capabilities. Across both levels, you will be a key contributor within a collaborative, high-impact engineering environment.
This position is located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), Ohio and is within a commutable distance from Beavercreek, Fairborn, Dayton, and Riverside.

Essential Job Responsibilities
Mid-Level Radar Modeling and Simulation Engineer:
Develops, maintains, and enhances complex radar system models and simulations using MATLAB. Designs and implements models for radar waveforms, signal processing algorithms, tracking, and resource management. Assess effectiveness of vendor developed algorithms. Simulates electronic attack (EA) and electronic protection (EP) techniques to assess system performance and resiliency. Executes simulation test cases, analyzes large data sets, and documents results to support design verification and performance validation. Performs trade studies and system performance analyses to guide architecture and algorithm development. Collaborates with systems, software, and test engineers to ensure models are accurate and to validate simulation results against hardware performance.
Senior Radar Modeling and Simulation Engineer:
Develops, maintains, and enhances complex radar system models and simulations using MATLAB. Designs and implements models for radar waveforms, signal processing algorithms, tracking, and resource management. Assessing and providing expert feedback on vendor developed algorithms. Simulates electronic attack (EA) and electronic protection (EP) techniques to assess system performance and resiliency. Executes simulation test cases, analyzes large and complex data sets, and generating reports and presentations in support of design verification and performance validation. Performs trade studies and system performance analyses to guide architecture and algorithm development. Mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with systems, software, and test engineers to ensure models are accurate and to validate simulation results against hardware performance.
SME Radar Modeling and Simulation Engineer:
Develops, maintains, and enhances complex radar system models and simulations using MATLAB. Minimum Qualifications
Mid- Level Radar Modeling and Simulation Engineer:
  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Strong proficiency and demonstrated experience in MATLAB for modeling and simulation.
  • Proven experience in modeling and simulating radar systems or similar complex RF systems.
  • Specific experience modeling radar waveforms, signal processing algorithms (e.g., detection, tracking, STAP), and/or electronic warfare techniques.
  • Strong understanding of radar fundamentals and digital signal processing.
  • Experience with data analysis, visualization, and statistical performance analysis.
  • Familiarity with software configuration management tools (e.g., Git).
  • Responsible for implementing, and reporting on modeling and simulation activities.
  • Clearance:Secret Security Clearance to start
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with enhanced security checks

Senior Radar Modeling and Simulation Engineer:
  • 9+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field; 7+ years of relevant experience with a Master's in a related field; or a PhD in a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Expert-level proficiency and demonstrated experience in MATLAB for the modeling and simulation of complex systems.
  • Extensive experience in architecting and simulating radar systems or similar complex RF systems.
  • Comprehensive experience in modeling advanced radar waveforms and signal processing algorithms (e.g., detection, tracking, STAP), and/or modern electronic warfare techniques.
  • A strong, intuitive understanding of radar fundamentals and advanced digital signal processing concepts.
  • Proven experience with complex data analysis, data visualization, and statistical performance analysis to draw insightful conclusions.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading modeling and simulation activities, including planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Clearance:Secret Security Clearance to start
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with enhanced security checks

  • 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.

  • Extensive experience in architecting and simulating radar systems or similar complex RF systems.
