Job description

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering and construction management support for the Chiller Plant System and Chilled and Condenser Water System Repair/Replace at the Miami VA Medical Center. You will ensure compliance with design intent, construction standards, and project objectives throughout all phases of the project.

This position is contingent upon the award of the contract, and the contract duration is one year with three option years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support construction management activities including inspections and reporting
  • Review mechanical and plumbing systems design, shop drawings, and submittals
  • Monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to schedule and budget
  • Maintain project documentation, logs, and as-built drawings
  • Assist in resolving technical issues, RFIs, and design clarifications
  • Support cost estimating, change order analysis, and project controls
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and contractors
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management or 10 years of directly related experience in lieu of bachelor's degree.
  • Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer in the State of Florida
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in construction/project management
  • Experience with chiller utility systems in federal or healthcare projects preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of VA standards, FAR, NFPA, and OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
