Job description

About Droplet
Droplet provides a suite of document automation tools that helps organizations get the right information to the right people, fast. What started as a web form and approval workflow solution, built for school districts, out of a garage in Provo, Utah, has grown into one of the fastest-growing software companies in the nation! We're a lean team of 30 motivated, hardworking individuals who are passionate about solving hard problems and delivering real value to customers. Our two flagship products, DropletForms and DropletSign, are leading the charge in helping organizations move away from paper-based processes and embrace the 21st century. With strong year-over-year revenue growth, great financial stability (we're profitable!), and many more exciting products to come, Droplet is only just getting started!
The Job
This is a hybrid role that requires in-office work at our Draper, Utah office 3 days per week.
Finance at Droplet is currently one person. This role is the second.
We want to be direct about what this job is, because the sequencing matters. In your first year, the majority of your time is billing, collections, and the transactional side of finance. You will own invoicing, chase down payments from district business offices, manage AP and vendors, and make sure the numbers underneath everything else are right. It is real work with a real cash impact, and nobody here treats it as junior work.
As you get command of that, analytical work moves to you - forecasting, SaaS metrics, reporting, the models that drive company decisions. That transition is written down below with dates on it, not left as a vague promise. If billing and collections aren't something you're willing to own well first, this isn't the right role. If you want to learn how a software business actually works from the cash up, it's an unusually good one.
You'll report directly to the COO, who runs finance.
What you'll own
From day one:
  • Invoice customers accurately and on time in our billing platform (Tabs), and keep it reconciled to QuickBooks
  • Own collections end to end - build and run the follow-up cadence, work directly with district business offices, resolve PO and payment issues, drive down days sales outstanding
  • Manage the AR aging and cash application
  • Own AP: pay vendors, manage vendor forms, W-9s, and insurance requirements
  • Keep customer, contract, and billing records clean across Tabs, QuickBooks, and Salesforce
As you ramp:
  • Coordinate with sales ops to calculate monthly commissions and bonuses
  • Assemble the monthly reporting package for the executive team
  • Work with our outside accounting firm to keep reporting accurate
  • Track and report core SaaS metrics
  • Maintain and improve the financial models that forecast revenue, expenses, and cash flow
  • Build relationships with department heads to understand their goals and the financial impact
  • Support payroll with accurate pay and compensation reporting
The growth path:
This is the part that makes the role worth taking, so here's the specific version:
  • First 90 days - you own invoicing and the collections cadence outright. Billing runs without the COO touching it.
  • By 6 months - you own AR aging, cash application, AP, and the reconciliation between our billing platform, QuickBooks, and Salesforce.
  • By 12 months - you own commission calculation, the monthly reporting package, and the data work behind forecasting and variance analysis. You're doing analyst work, not just transactional work.

We review level and compensation against those milestones at twelve months. The path here is Financial Analyst → Senior Financial Analyst, with room to grow into managing a finance team as we scale.
What we're looking for
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • 0-2 years of experience in finance, accounting, or analysis - relevant internship experience counts
  • Strong Excel skills, and comfort building and auditing a spreadsheet someone else will rely on
  • Genuine attention to detail. In this job, a wrong invoice is a conversation with a customer
  • Clear, direct written and verbal communication - you'll be emailing and calling district business offices about money they owe us, and doing it in a way that gets paid without damaging the relationship
  • Persistence and comfort with follow-up. Collections is largely the discipline of not letting things go quiet
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize without someone assigning your day

Bonus Points
  • Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
  • Experience with a billing platform (Tabs, Maxio, Chargebee, or similar)
  • Experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM
  • Any exposure to public sector, K-12, or government billing - purchase orders, vendor portals, long payment cycles
  • Working understanding of GAAP
  • Familiarity with SaaS metrics (ARR, CAC, LTV, NRR, GRR)
Location and schedule
Hybrid from our Lehi, Utah office. Three days per week on-site for your first 90 days, then two days per week ongoing. The heavier early cadence is deliberate - this job is learned by sitting next to someone, and we'd rather front-load that than leave you guessing.
Financial Analyst pay range
$55,000-$65,000 USD
Perks & Benefits
  • Comprehensive health coverage: Medical, dental, and vision with significant employer contribution toward premiums for employees and their dependents
  • 401(k) with company sponsorship: Invest in your future with us
  • Generous parental leave: Time and support for what matters most
  • Career growth opportunities: We'll help you build the career you actually want-not just the next title
  • Stock options: Take part in the company's growth and success
  • In-office perks: Endless snacks and drinks at our Utah HQ
  • Flexible, trust-based time off: Salaried employees have flexible paid time off with minimal oversight-we trust our team to take time responsibly. Hourly roles receive paid holidays, with additional unpaid time off available upon approval

Keep In Mind
  • Sometimes we meet up! Expect to travel for our annual company all-hands (around 3-4 days).
  • While we offer a flexible work arrangement, we expect an average full-time commitment of 40 hours per week.
  • A successful candidate will be subject to a background check and must obtain satisfactory results as a condition of joining the team.
  • We're currently able to hire in select states. Please choose your current state of residence in the application below. If your state isn't listed, we aren't set up to employ there yet-we hope to expand in the future and encourage you to check back.
  • By applying for this role, you confirm that all information submitted is accurate and complete. You further acknowledge that providing false or fraudulent information during the application process is cause for denial of an offer, revocation of any existing offer, or other adverse action, up to and including termination after the start of your commencement of work.
