Job description

CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER - PROJECT CONTROLS

As a member of the construction projects team, you will work with a group of elite engineers and specialists across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure for a variety of projects at SpaceX Facilities. This role is responsible for the design, build, and activation of infrastructure, facilities improvements, and large capital projects. You will have the opportunity to drive positive change in a fast-paced and low-drag environment. This includes owning tasks/projects from start to finish, with the goal of making the SpaceX campus a world-class facility that can support the mission of enabling life beyond Earth.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own and implement budgeting, spend tracking, and general cost control measures across large capital projects
  • Clearly communicate project status, progress, and blockers to internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist with managing high level strategy for project execution, including resource planning, contracting strategy, equipment procurement, etc.
  • Build and maintain integrated design/build project schedules, from project conception to commissioning
  • Own and implement budgeting, spend tracking, and general cost control measures across large capital projects
  • Establish project KPI's and report on project performance against these metrics
  • Build budget standards, unit rate databases, and other estimation tools

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management
  • 2+ years of professional experience in engineering, architecture, or construction management

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience working in manufacturing and/or industrial construction project industry
  • Technical degree or related experience (engineering, math or physics related discipline)
  • Experience with interdisciplinary project management and execution, specifically relating to engineering fundamentals across multiple departments
  • Experience developing and presenting executive summaries of status to drive decision making
  • Ability to communicate with project stakeholders and executives
  • Data analysis skillset, including Excel and SQL experience
  • Strong project management foundation, including project scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and risk management
  • Proficiency in project scheduling software and tools (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of construction methods across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines
  • Expertise in cost estimating processes for large-scale manufacturing construction projects
  • Experienced with Procore, Bluebeam, CAD, and other construction-related software

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends when needed, based on site operational needs; flexibility is required
  • Ability to provide on-call support in emergency situations
  • Occasional travel may be required based on specific projects; travel requirement is up to 15%
