Job description

Vernon Health is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to lead strategic initiatives that support organizational growth, operational excellence, quality improvement, and transformational changes across the health system.
This newly created position will serve as a key leader for organizational projects, with a significant focus on Electronic Health Record (EHR) optimization, governance, implementation support, and workflow improvement initiatives. The Project Manager will partner with clinical, operational, administrative, and technical teams to ensure projects align with organizational priorities and deliver measurable outcomes that enhance patient care, efficiency, and staff experience.
Responsibilities
  • Lead organizational and EHR-related projects from planning through implementation and evaluation.
  • Manage EHR optimization, upgrades, workflow improvements, and new system functionality.
  • Partner with clinical, operational, and IT stakeholders to improve workflows, efficiency, compliance, and user experience.
  • Coordinate EHR governance, enhancement requests, testing, training, implementation, and post-go-live support.
  • Serve as the full-time project lead responsible for managing resources, timelines, training enrollment, budget tracking, communication strategies, and overall implementation coordination.
  • Work closely with the other party's Project Manager and project management staff to develop and maintain the master project schedule, project scope, and issue/risk log throughout implementation
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement to achieve project objectives.
  • Monitor project progress, manage risks, and provide updates and recommendations to leadership.
  • Support process improvement, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate strategic, technology, quality, regulatory, and operational projects assigned.

Qualifications
Education/Training
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is strongly preferred.

Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of project management experience leading projects ranging from small to large scale is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with process improvement, quality improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act), project management, and/or change management methodologies.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), including Epic, is a plus.

Licensure / Certification
  • Certification in Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Change Methodology, Six Sigma, Lean, or related Quality Improvement methodologies preferred.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred.
  • CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) certification desirable.

Skills/Abilities
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead projects, facilitate meetings, and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
