As part of IPM's national Project Portfolio Management (PPM) practice, we lead: the assessment and enhancement of existing PMO's, the establishment of new PMOs, the development of portfolio frameworks, and establishment of resource planning models. JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Senior Consultant, you will partner with client leadership and delivery teams to assess the current state of project and portfolio management, develop actionable recommendations and roadmaps, and support the implementation of business-focused solutions. This role is centered on enterprise-level PMO leadership, with a strong emphasis on new product development, strategic initiatives, and business execution across the organization.
Please note: This role does not manage IT systems implementations or infrastructure projects, nor does it involve application development, cybersecurity, or technology operations.
At each new engagement you will leverage the continual exposure and experiences from working within a variety of clients.
Your primary goals and focus will be to:
  • Assess current PMO and portfolio frameworks
  • Identify the root cause of issues and inefficiencies
  • Develop future-state recommendations and a roadmap for improvement
  • Design and develop solutions, including processes, governance, and tools
  • Leverage current industry best-practice methodologies and tools
  • Manage and mentor teams of project managers
  • Integrate AI into PMO and portfolio functions
  • Support business development discussions and documentation
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate for this position should have the following skills and experience:
  • A bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline, or relatable field to our industries. Advanced degrees in business is a plus.
  • At least 12 years of related experience growing into roles of greater responsibility, with 7 years leading projects or programs
  • At least 5 years of experience leading PMOs and/or managing project portfolios
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Advanced portfolio or program management certifications a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • High level of attention to details
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively communicate, including presentation skills
  • Strong consulting skills with ability to assess and advise on PMOs and developing portfolio management
  • Knowledge of maturity frameworks and ability to work at different maturity levels, depending on client engagements
  • Experience managing and/or mentoring project managers
  • Ability to leverage best-practice tools, such as Smartsheet, Planisware, Planview, etc. to enhance PMO and portfolio reporting.
