Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Project Controls Manager is responsible for establishing, managing and overseeing project controls functions including cost, schedule, risk, reporting, change management and forecasting across large-scale data center and infrastructure projects.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for establishing and executing the high-level strategic direction of project controls including cost management, risk management, and schedule management. 
  • Take the lead for project controls deliverables that require cross-functional input. 
  • Motivate the team by providing clear directions and goals. 
  • Assist with weekly team meetings to discuss progress on initiatives and to drive performance. 
  • Lead the development and production of regular reporting. 
  • Prepares documentation for project gateway and approval processes. 
  • Develop overall guidelines for project level chartering and partnering. 
  • Lead the development, implementation and management of project controls procedures across cost, schedule, progress, risk and change
  • Oversee cost management including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and costtocomplete evaluations
  • Manage integrated project schedules and monitor progress against baselines
  • Leads risk workshops with the project team to identify risks, establish likelihood/severity, mitigation actions and Owners. 
  • Coordinate project teams to ensure accuracy of inputs for cost, schedule and risk reporting
  • Prepare executivelevel project reporting including KPIs, dashboards and performance summaries
  • Support the Program manager in strategic planning, project performance reviews and decisionmaking
  • Monitor, evaluate and mitigate project risks and opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with Vertiv governance, financial procedures and controls
  • Manage project Change Control including change identification, impact analysis, evaluation, pricing, approval routing and integration into forecast and costtocomplete
  • Maintain a project change register and ensure timely communication of approved and pending changes
  • Work in specialty tools related to project controls

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or field related to construction. 
  • Graduate degree in quantity surveying, cost management, construction management, or engineering is preferred. 
  • 7+ years of relevant project controls experience. 
  • 2+ years managing high performing project control teams in a consulting environment. 
  • Knowledge of multiple contract delivery methods and the merits of each. 
  • Displays track record of proven success with schedules, cost control, estimating and risk management. 
  • Proven and demonstrated experience in implementing and managing a project controls system, including financial and scheduling controls, for a major capital project. 
  • Experience in establishing and monitoring project baselines and performance metrics.  
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. 
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex project data and provide meaningful insights and recommendations. 
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and compliance frameworks relevant to the project domain. 
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and the ability to influence and motivate project teams towards achieving project control objectives. 
  • Demonstrates excellent presentation, verbal, written, organizational and communication skills 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of experience in project controls for large construction or technical infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of cost engineering, scheduling (Primavera/MS Project), risk and change management
  • Ability to evaluate complex project data and communicate insights clearly
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, leadership and coordination skills

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Site and office based, with variable working hours and potential travel requirements.
  • Approximately 30% of travel is expected.
  • Variable working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Oncall availability may be required based on project needs.
