Job description

Construction Accounting Specialist LHH Recruitment is working with a company near Chandler who is in search of an accounting specialist to join their team, full time. This role is fully onsite, Monday-Friday 7am-4pm.. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with a strong construction background who is experienced in project accounting, AIA billing, treasury functions, and construction compliance. The range of salary is between $60,000-$65,000.
Responsibilities
  • Process construction-related accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Prepare, submit, and track AIA progress billings.
  • Manage lien waivers, preliminary notices, and other project compliance documentation.
  • Reconcile job costs and assist with project accounting activities.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to ensure accurate billing, cost tracking, and project financial reporting.
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance and maintain accurate project records.
  • Process change orders and assist with contract administration.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Support month-end close by preparing reconciliations, journal entries, and accounting schedules.
  • Assist with daily treasury activities, including monitoring cash balances and cash flow.
  • Initiate and process ACH, wire, and check payments while ensuring proper approvals and documentation.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and investigate outstanding transactions or discrepancies.
  • Support cash management activities by coordinating with internal departments and financial institutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of banking transactions and assist with treasury reporting.
  • Partner with the accounting team to ensure timely funding of vendor payments and project-related disbursements.
  • Maintain organized financial records while ensuring compliance with company policies and construction industry regulations.
Qualifications
  • Associates Degree preferred
  • 3+ years of accounting experience within the construction industry.
  • Hands-on experience with AIA billing is required.
  • Experience processing and tracking lien waivers, preliminary notices, retainage, and other construction compliance documentation.
  • Experience working within an ERP system is required (Vista, Sage, Foundation, CMiC, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including job costing and project accounting.
  • Experience supporting treasury and cash management functions is highly preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
