As the Program Supervisor, Children’s Services, you’ll lead and support child care and early years programs across the community, ensuring families have access to quality, affordable services. Your work will strengthen local child care systems, guide service providers, and help improve outcomes for children and families.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the implementation of the Canada Wide Early Learning and Child Care system
  • Facilitate the delivery of the child care fee subsidy program including oversight of Early Years Service Coordinators
  • Act as a resource to staff in determining appropriate resolutions to challenging situations regarding client service and fee subsidy eligibility decisions
  • Develop and facilitate training plans, provide coaching, mentoring and general staffing support to the Early Years Service Coordinators
  • In consultation with the Program Manager, approve allocations and requests for Local Priorities funding, and support staff with related administrative tasks such as issuing funds, record keeping, reconciliations and approval letters
  • Review and reconciliation of financial documents and information such as annual wage reports, Wage Enhancement applications and reconciliations, audited financial statements and program budgets
  • Provide direction and guidance to Service Providers who deliver County funded services to children
  • Support child care operators regarding program requirements such as quality assurance initiatives and provide information and direction as required
  • Work collaboratively with early learning and child care community partners
  • Act as Administrator of Haldimand Norfolk OneList. Provide training and support to child care operators, respond to client feedback and troubleshoot with OneHSN as needed, and monitor child care waitlists and available data in Haldimand and Norfolk in collaboration with the Data Analysis Coordinator
  • Participate on committees and planning tables as needed i.e. the Early Learning and Child Care Network
  • Responsible for providing management of the Children’s Services team in the Program Manager’s Absence
  • Complete Ministry reporting as required
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Four (4) Year Honours Degree in a related discipline preferred (Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Studies, Children’s Studies)
  • Two (2) years of direct related experience in related discipline, preferably in a supervisory role

Skills and Abilities:

  • Superior analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of early child development
  • Knowledge of local community programs related to children, families, and early childhood development
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Financial acumen would be an asset
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Computer expertise in corporate standard software (Microsoft Office) and department specific software to data search and entry and to create and modify word processed documents
  • Must be aware of safe work practices as they relate to job responsibilities and work environment, and have the basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
