Job description

The Basics
Tanium is actively seeking a Program Manager to own the program management of product development activities - from ideation through go-to-market - for their assigned portfolio, partnering closely with portfolio product leaders within the CTO's organization. This is a build role, not a maintain role. You will contribute to the design, implementation, and iteration of program management processes for a spec-driven & AI-first product development organization. The ideal candidate has a strong program/project management foundation, sharp judgment under ambiguity, and the confidence to drive cross-functional teams, including senior stakeholders, to decisions and deadlines. You will represent the Product Organization in collaboration with Engineering, UX, Enablement, and Marketing to usher products through the development lifecycle. A successful candidate is a self-starter who builds forward motion with incomplete information rather than waiting on full clarity.
This position follows the Company's hybrid schedule which currently requires employees to work in the office at one of the following locations a minimum of three days per week: Addison, TX; Durham, NC; or Reston, VA.
What you'll do
  • Coordinate the spec-driven product launch process end-to-end - from ideation to delivery - for a product portfolio area. Building and continuously surfacing efficiencies to the process itself as you run it
  • Manage multiple concurrent workstreams across different stakeholders and different stages simultaneously, keeping each moving without waiting for perfect alignment before acting
  • Set timelines, hold cross-functional partners accountable to them, and communicate product readiness to leadership - including when that means pushing back on scope creep or slipping deadlines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams - subject matter experts, UX, Engineering, Enablement, Legal, and Marketing - driving them toward decisions rather than simply coordinating meetings
  • Develop first-draft materials for product enablement and marketing, working from directional input rather than a finished brief
  • Act as a proxy to the Product Managers whose portfolios you manage, representing their priorities and making calls in their absence

We're looking for someone with
  • Education
    • BA or equivalent experience
  • Experience
    • 3+ years in program or project management, ideally having built or significantly matured a process rather than only operating within an existing one
    • Demonstrated ability to manage several concurrent, cross-stage workstreams without losing precision on any one of them
    • Comfort operating in ambiguity - able to take a partial set of facts, make a reasonable call, and produce something concrete for others to react to, rather than gathering exhaustive requirements before starting
    • A track record of driving timelines and holding stakeholders accountable
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills and aptitude in leveraging cutting edge technologies - including AI tools - to drive greater efficiencies
    • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including comfort delivering to executive audiences
    • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify and correct errors
    • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a hybrid work environment
