Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose
The Program Manager reports to the Program Director of the Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) Program. The position is responsible for the oversight and management of operations, administration, accreditation support, and budget processes for the MSAT program. The position further supports the Program Director and Coordinator of Clinical Education (CCE) with recruitment, hiring, orientation of new faculty and staff, new students, and coordination of clinical education operations.
Essential Functions
Program Operations and Administration

  • Independently and/or in coordination with the Program Director, manages the operations and has overall responsibility for office management for the MSAT program.
  • Oversees program projects, budget administration, purchasing, inventory, and execution of assigned initiatives.
  • Completes queries, reconciliation, transfers, and budget reports as directed by the Program Director and assists the School of Health Sciences Business Manager in reconciling and tracking budgets/grants and troubleshooting/resolving budget inquiries.
  • Edits accreditation reports, program manuals, student handbooks, clinical education documents, and other departmental materials with professional quality.
  • Develops communications materials for the program, such as flyers, brochures, video content, and website updates.
Accreditation and Compliance (CAATE)

  • Maintains and oversees the currency and accuracy of departmental policies and procedures manuals, university and graduate school catalogs, student handbooks, departmental forms, and accreditation documents.
  • Maintains departmental operational, administrative, academic, and clinical archives, developing and implementing processes for tracking, storing, and retrieving data related to program operations, faculty, staff, students, and alumni, ensuring security and privacy in compliance with FERPA and HIPAA.
  • In coordination with the Program Director, maintains documentation and provides data for program reports and assists with completion of annual CAATE reports.
  • Provides high-level support during accreditation reviews and site visits.
Clinical Education Management

  • Creates and/or supervises the creation and maintenance of schedules for classes, labs, clinical experiences, academic calendars, and events based on instructions and guidelines provided by the Program Director and CCE.
  • Manages program assessment and oversees the management of student clinical records, including clinical hours, patient encounter portfolios, and progression documentation.
  • Organizes and schedules program meetings, events, accreditation visits, advisory board meetings, and hosts guests for the department.
  • Works with the CCE to support clinical site evaluation, preceptor communication, and student assignments to athletic training clinical experiences and supplemental clinical experiences.
  • Tracks student compliance with immunizations, background checks, CPR/ECC certification, FERPA/HIPAA training, bloodborne pathogen training, and other required documentation.
Admissions, Recruitment, and Student Support

  • Works with Graduate Admissions, Registrar, Graduate School, and departmental admissions committee to develop and manage program admissions as directed by the Program Director.
  • Manages and/or oversees student registration, graduation, and pre-certification processes.
  • Assists with a robust admissions plan, including information sessions, tours, applicant engagement events, and developing and coordinating recruitment opportunities and processes.
  • Serves as liaison with student services and faculty support offices, linking students and faculty to appropriate staff and administrators.
Faculty, Staff, and Preceptor Support

  • Conducts and oversees the hiring processes for faculty, staff, and preceptors in compliance with human resources policies.
  • Works with University Advancement, Alumni Relations, Sponsored Projects, and other University departments to plan, implement, and manage initiatives and processes for the MSAT program.
Professional Communication and Problem Solving

  • Uses advanced skills in Outlook, Word, Excel, Banner, OneDrive, Teams, and SharePoint, combined with experience in database management and internet research skills.
  • Handles multiple project assignments and works effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Resolves routine and complex problems with minimal consultation; handles multiple assignments and prioritizes in a constantly changing work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Five (5) years of experience providing senior-level administrative and professional program support.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree.
  • One (1) year of experience as the primary or lead administrative and professional program or business support.
  • Experience working in an Athletic Training Program or similar health professions program.
  • Experience conducting outreach with high-level external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Banner, SharePoint, and HR systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in oral and written communication skills.
  • Professionalism and high-level interpersonal skills that demonstrate effective, clear, and culturally sensitive communication.
  • Experience with managing projects and budgets.
  • Capacity to exercise diplomacy and deal effectively with people in a variety of circumstances in a calm, professional manner.
  • Ability to multitask, utilize resources, and establish priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment and adapt to emerging technology.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and work effectively with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.

Hiring Range $68,640 - $73,408 We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
