The Role at a Glance
The AVP, Annuities Experience Studies leads the strategy, governance, and execution of experience analysis and assumption development for the Annuities business. This role drives insights that directly inform pricing, valuation, risk management, and capital decisions.
You will lead a high-performing team responsible for designing and delivering experience studies using both traditional actuarial techniques and advanced analytics. This role partners closely with Finance, Risk, Product, and Data teams to translate complex experience data into actionable business insights and to modernize data pipelines and analytics capabilities.
What you'll be doing
• Provide guidance on Lincoln's emerging lapse, utilization, and mortality experience while identifying opportunities to exercise an innovative approach.
• Utilize predictive analytics as appropriate to analyze experience and develop assumptions.
• Provide thought leadership and oversight on the development of mortality, policyholder behavior, and expense assumptions for Annuity products, including both new business and inforce products.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the organization to educate on techniques used in assumption development, derive understanding of experience drivers, and socialize insights derived through team's work.
• Leverage data management platforms to effectively monitor actuarial assumptions, providing insights and recommendations to management.
• Partner with external experts to share best practices and participate in regulatory or industry data calls.
• Collaborate with teammates to share knowledge, institute best practices, and develop shared insights.
• Lead a team of professionals in the execution of the team's responsibilities.
What we're looking for
• 10+ years of actuarial experience, with demonstrated competency in the specific responsibilities for this position
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation or Associate (ASA) with additional years of actuarial experience
• Ability to synthesize large volumes of data to extract insights with strong technical skills
• Annuity product knowledge and general insurance/business knowledge
• Demonstrated success in providing strategic and holistic thought leadership
• Demonstrated success in balancing and pivoting across projects with shifting priorities
• Strong relationship management skills across functional areas, including senior management and peers, including ability to influence effectively
• Curiosity, comfort asking questions and challenging the status quo, and critical thinking with an eye for innovation
• Direct experience in assumption development, predictive analytics, and data management (e.g. Dataiku, SQL, Python)

The pay range for this position is $127,500 - $232,300 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln's total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln's standard benefits package.
