About this role

The Senior Systems Engineering professional works independently. Converts product requirements into total system solutions, leads trade studies, and implements common work practices.

Duties & Responsibilities

The candidate will have responsibility for the following in addition to ad hoc assignments as needed.

  • Development of residential HVAC machines and related control systems
  • Development and validation of thermal system models to develop components and control requirements and inform design decisions
  • Define and model robust requirements for the Residential Connected Ecosystem
  • Utilize knowledge in HVAC unit and system design to contribute to the evolution of connected products and data strategies
  • Establish effective methods for data access and usability that meet the needs of diverse stakeholders
  • Enable and enhance data analytics to improve service tools and advance preventative and predictive analytics
  • Analyze product data to identify design opportunities and optimize system performance
  • Provide insights and support to Data Analytics, Aftermarket, and Service teams regarding preventative and predictive analytics
  • Collaborate with lab technicians to complete performance testing, reliability testing and agency testing requirements
  • Evaluation of systems for manufacturability and reliability
  • Partner with design team members to understand and translate design and process engineering requirements into product line design components, subsystems and products
  • Perform risk analysis of equipment and control design.
  • Makes significant contribution to their team by applying in depth knowledge in their discipline
  • Discover and define requirements for HVAC equipment and controls system
  • Perform system decomposition and design system architectures for HVAC systems and equipment
  • Define and manage integration and test of system for validation
  • Design thermodynamic system or sub system
  • Provide discipline knowledge to design complex systems or sub systems
  • Collaborate with internal functions to support key metrics for a program and provide support to ensure all goals are achieved
  • Troubleshoot difficult, and sometimes complex, problems / HVAC system issues
  • Execute and update standard works related to work area, including reliability standards
  • May develop and coach others
  • Leads effective methods for data access and usability

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Software Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in System Architecture, HVAC System Control, Equipment Control Architecture, and Equipment Control Logic
  • 5+ years of experience working with HVAC industry trends.
  • 5+ years of experience working with electronic controls function in HVAC equipment
  • 5+ years of experience working with Industry-wide accepted system engineering processes and data analysis tools
  • 5+ years of experience with design of experiments data analysis techniques (e.g MatLab, Python, etc)
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the USA. No visa sponsoring available.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Software Engineering.
  • Substantial technical skills in engineering
  • Proven experience with Substantial knowledge of the fundamentals of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of reliability
  • Provide substantial knowledge in the model/design and qualification (i.e. performance, reliability, safety, etc.) of HVAC systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve difficult, and sometimes complex, HVAC system problems
  • Understand product / component function, reliability, and quality requirements
  • Proven ability to implement continuous improvements and standardize processes
  • Knowledge using design for six sigma principles
  • Organized with strong attention to detail while managing multiple tasks and priorities
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive and results-driven; thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Self-starter with ability to learn quickly and work independently and without day-to-day supervision to prioritize work to meet customer needs
  • Experience working in a team environment within and outside of functional support groups
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with diverse audiences including cross functional team members, senior leaders, global suppliers, and external customers including service managers and technicians.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications (such as Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Word)

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.

Other Compensation

Thisposition may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
